Mahabi will be very very crowded and being the peak season rates will be quite high. Although weather will be pleasant till morning 10 and from 4pm onwards

Shrivardhan and Harihareshwar falls in the same cluster of beaches which also includes Diveagar. Distance wise they are same but Harihareshwar beach is termed little unsafe for going into the water. So Shrivardhan it should be between the two beaches
And yes it will be very very hot and sultry! People riding down from NH17 will dehydrade like anything

I'm quite surprised to see Amboli not there in the list. Perfect location, weather also pleasant(compared to any beach)as its a hill station, not very crowded, enough exiting places in and around to go and visit, hardly any crowd, if GJ guys come via NH4 they will reach Amboli faster than Ganapatipule. Green valley resort will be an excellent place to stay and serves pretty good food.

Think about the above option if its possible now


How Amboli looks in the month of April, went there almost on the same dates few years back

excellent option dada..i just saw a sudden drop of 350+ kms from Bangalore for Amboli (which should be a good news for folks from Bangalore )as compared to Shrivardhan. However, I was wondering if it should be too far for the GUJ folks.

Approximate distance from respective cities
For Amboli
Mumbai - 500kms
Pune - 350kms
Bangalore - 600kms
Ahmedabad - 1000kms

I understand that from Ahmedabad the distance is 1000kms but lets compare it with other two location

For Shrivardhan
Mumbai - 180kms
Pune - 160kms
Bangalore - 900kms
Ahmedabad - 700kms

900kms from Bangalore for Shrivardhan is tougher than 1000kms from Ahmedabad for Amboli. Also the GJ guys can stop over at either Mumbai and Pune at some xBhpians place which is not the case for Bangalore guys as they have to stop over at some hotel in between

Now lets see for Ganapatipule
Mumbai - 324kms
Pune - 323kms
Bangalore - 760kms
Ahmedabad - 831kms

Again for Ahmedabad it is going to tougher than Amboli as they will be riding the twisties of NH17 for close to 350kms and for Bangalore guys too it is not easy

Mahabaleswar is good in terms of distance for almost everyone but then it has its own disadvantage as mentioned by me and others earlier. Tapola just 20km away from Mahabaleswar is a better place to stay and is also less crowded if Mahabaleswar is selected as the final choice

For Tapola/Mahabi
Bangalore - 800kms
Ahmedabad - 800kms

I like the Amboli idea.. the location is also good & better roads for both GJ & KA riders...

Also read that quiet a few of our frnds are unable to join on the finalized date i.e. 18-20th April because of Good Friday & Easter Sunday falling the same weekend.
So due to family & cultural engagements we are unable to join.

I recently learnt that 2 of my best childhood frnds are getting married that weekend...
Thats my reason..

If the voting can be reopened for dates selecting the top 2 dates as there was a tie between them.

Moderator pls look into it...

Even here in Bangalore also couple of riders were bit sceptical for 18th april weekend due to easter sunday.

And as you said previous weekend that is 12th April weekend, then it can be of bit problem due to recently announced Lok Sabha election dates which also include 12th April.
So now bit confusing about the dates.
Also some very valuable suggestions have been given by MG.

Also add to the above, karnataka and parts of maharashtra is going to elections on 17th of april, it will be quite difficult for everybody to participate. its my guess. correct me if i am wrong.

i too think that dates should be pre-poned by one week, for two reasons--

1) Some of the guys may not be able to attend due to Good Friday.

2) 17th is election date in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

For location, i think Tapola will be better as it is equidistant from bangalore and ahemdabad.

I am really excited about this g2g. Will be doing this kind of group ride for the first time.

I voted for Shrivardhan as it is on the West coast and roads leading to them from bangalore should be awesome if not terrific and moreover the sea breeze after the ride would be icing on the cake

@Saquib It being a summer, any light color tee would do with the beach as its print (and some coconut trees around )

I think Amboli should be up for polls. Being hill station we can enjoy without worrying about the hot and humid climate that summer throws at us.

About T shirts, white or grey or black can be amazing choice. My vote to grey though.

No point in putting up a poll one more time for the dates. 17th is a election date so I don't see problem happening if we are riding on 18th-20th, 16th would have been a problem.

Lets take a head count for both the weekends so that we can lock either of the weekends first then we can finalise the destination. Don't forget to add your origin city so that we get an idea as to how many people are coming from which city which might help in the final destination selection

PS: I went to (Jampore Beach) Daman on Saturday, 1st March and spent good time relaxing in shacks along the beach. The breeze was cool with hardly any humidity. I am assuming the weather conditions to be same across the Konkan coastline as well during April, however I might be wrong though. Some guys from my office are planning for Guhagar on 16/17 and I'll get a feedback from them regarding present weather conditions etc.
