What exactly is being checked in this? the condition?

its mentioned on the rc book so can i skip bringing the engine and chasis along...

It means check basic things like engine should not break down or chassis breaks in the middle, as this were the common things which utsav faced.

I was just making a statement, an inference based on an observation. You were arguing over something which is not true. Also.. Why can't new age powerful bikes be fuel efficient? If someone like VW is showcasing a 111kmpl (45 hp)car in the expo.. why is it so very unreasonable to demand 40kmpl from a high tech 17.8 Ps 150cc motorcycle when my crude/unrefined/archiac 21Ps 220cc Pulsar manages the same with ease? Heck Ford has showcased a 120Ps 200Nm 1 liter Petrol SUV which will most likely return 16-20kmpl depending on usage.

The point being the world has moved on from just fuel injection onto petrol direct injection, variable valve timing, and turbo-charging. Demanding low emissions and high FE is no longer the 'cheap' thing to do.

There is no 'leap' in power outputs. There is no next generation of engines being showcased with significantly higher power/lower emissions. Motorcycle industry, I am afraid, has stagnated. And I am not talking about the Indian scene.



OK.. I am mass market. I was definitely mass market back in july - august 2009. The only thing I looked at was BHP, Top Speed and FE (and Lighting and my bank balance ). This is how most people start off. The 'better' bikes only come when you graduate onto something more suited to your style. How would anyone know their own riding style when buying their first real (non 100cc commuter) bike?

With the amount of options in the market back in 2007, the best bike money could buy you south of 10lac was the 'Hummein hai Honda ka Karishma'!! If you wanted something better/faster, you bought a car. Times have changed since then. So has the customer attitude. How many people do you see on the street with R15s? What percentage of them are here on xBHP or any motorcycle forum? There are so many on the street means people understand their worth. If I look around in Pune, I can certainly find more R15s than ZMRs. That certainly shows a shift of trends.

The so under discussion "Mass Market" in India has evolved much in last 10 odd yrs. From having the obvious choice of HH Splendor back then to R15s n P220(not including CBR or Ninjas as they dnt come to the mass market segment.. yet). One of my observations about young Indian buyers of current breed is that they go with the choice keeping the Image that brand holds in the market, not specifically with what idea or purpose in mind that is basically manufactured. The fascination with fully faired machines has been longing since ages in their mindsets. And no wonder, they would get their bikes modified for the same reasons. Not for the performance imp sake.
Launch of P220 and R15 brought their longing dreams to life and they were sold like fire. I personally definitely would not credit all the success of R15/V1/V2 or P220 just because the buyers were aware of the performance equations or of the fact weather the bike is carrying tourer/race track genes. Sparing a few, most of them were bought with some hypothetical RossiManiasm in minds. After all, would wouldnt want to have a bike whose super daddy is every ones poster bike. This inference is strictly for most of the young Indian Mass. And thats why, no wonder I find so many of them racing on Pune streets with their self proclaimed competitors.
So how does the Mass go with the choices they have. I guess, looks come first and formost, price, Power(I meant how fact he cd ride it..), milage.
I am carrying my own perception here. No offenses/disagreements with anyone around.

Lavasa - Tamhini road was the worst road I've ever hit! I do not have current updates on its conditions..... but if u wanna try, I strongly recommend to use 2 stroke lightweight bike like RX100. The route is ideal for MotoCross .... I went there back in 2009 on discover 125 and attached herewith is the proof of road condition and my standstill discover

Sounds ok to me. but again the route after mulshi, towards Tamhini or after Mulshi towards lonavala is totally messed up. Riding here would be boring....

Any other choices in pipeline???

EDIT - I suggest to keep the first plan in place which is -

Chandni chowk to mulshi then paradise cafe and then back....

@ everyone - both the ride have different timings, as the ride direct to RK's Lonavala for breakfast is at 7 am from chandni chowk which is on NH4 only, and other to mulshi is at 6.00/6.15 am, so dont get confused your selves.

Requesting other rides to prepare separate log to remove the confusions.

That was exactly my point. Everyone buying their first bike will look for elementary things like BHP, Price, Average and above all.. Looks. What we realize AFTER we buy our bike is, what we want from our next bike. Thats when we realize handling, road grip, cross-wind stability, flickability and torque curves are also important for bike selection.

Back in the day till 2008, there were zero full faired bikes available for sale in the country south of 10 lac. If you wanted a full fairing, If you wanted to look unique, what would you do?? (of course Custom fabricate!! )

Assume a hypothetical market where all bikes sold are fully faired. Wouldn't *some* people, for want of looking unique, just buy the bike and remove the fairing on day 1? (like we remove saree guards ) Thats what I meant by change of trends. If only Faired bikes would sell in India, why would the manufacturers bother about introducing the Fz1s, the MT01s, the Harleys, the Bandits and the Streetfighters in this country? The fact that Pulsars do so very well in India made the manufacturers rethink their strategies. They could have very easily just kept selling the Race replicas and sports tourers if nobody wanted a naked.

Just imagine, what a sensation a product like the Duke 200 would cause in the aforementioned *hypothetical* market even if it was priced 30% more than its nearest competition in terms of horsepower. But once the initial euphoria dies down, the only products that will keep selling are those which truly deserve to, regardless of whether it has a fairing or not.

Doesnt Blade/R1 fall to a different bracket of SuperSport unlike the bandit which is a Tourer ??? ... Pls correct me if thats wrong ? Coz that wd be the same thing with a R15 Vs ZMR Compario.. ??

I have all the safety gears but I have a question about bike papers; Is it ok if I carry license and RC card of bike or do I have to always carry bike insurance xerox as well?
