Hi Guys I am new to xbhp. The only reason to join this site is that i am planing to go leh ladakh & I am looking for a group for leh ladakh 2012. I am from delhi & own 180 cc pulsar. It will be great pleasure for me if can join you for leh ladakh trip.

I also had visited keylong once but through buses sitting on bus door step as there was not seats in bus from manali to keylong.

I also have Biking experience of delhi - MCleod ganj - delhi around 1400km driving in two days in the month of dec. Like to share some photos.

I didn't quite understand the route; is the Khed you have mentioned the same as Rajgurunagar on the Pune - Nasik highway or is it a different Khed? The route given by you seems to be a bit ulta-pulta if the Khed as per you is indeed Rajgurunagar.

Do clarify if you don't mind.

This Khed is on NH17, before Chiplun (when going towards Goa from Mumbai). Total distance is around 360km's, so if you guys start at 5am and plan to be home by 8pm. It should be possible even for Mumbai folks (who would be riding more than Pune guys).

But finally it all will depend on the pace of the group. So, this ride can also give you an idea about the safe speed that the group can ride at, to help you plan your day wise trip destinations.
Ideally it should be around 3hrs for Chandani Chowk - Tamhini - Mangaon (103kms), Panvel - Mangaon is ~98km's should take around 2.5hrs in early morning for Mumbai riders.
Around 2hrs for Mangaon - Khed (~87kms). Around 4hrs for Khed - Bhor (~117kms). Around an hr from Bhor - Chandani Chowk (~53kms). Total = 10hrs of riding time + 2hrs for Mumbai guys to reach Panvel from Chandani Chowk.
(The times are rough estimates, actual will depend on the riding speed).

Manish ji only one thing to note here, if you are riding alone back towards pune , assuming that the mumbai guyz would go straight to panvel from mangaon. Tahmini ghat at night is not that safe as there have been many incidents of thefts in and around that . We have our own XBHPian rockerz experience it. So kindly reconsider it
This route was quite deserted at 8:00 pm , when I used it while returning from goa a few weeks back. Hardly any soul till you cross mulshi. 80kms of completly deserted road I can asertain.

I came by Kolad-Tamhini-Mulshi-Paud-Pune route that night, not Rockerzzzz. And yes it was extremely lonely. But it was also past midnight.

Rockerzzzzz theft incident happened on Pali - Khopoli road. I don't consider any one of them particularly safe at night (not even Bhor). Your best bet should be via Poladpur - Mahabaleshwar - Pasarni - Shirwal - Pune.

Opz my bad ! But still our driver in scorpio was scared to go via tahmini at 8:00 in the night saying its risky ! And yea it was totally deserted past velne MIDC area. Not even a single soul till we reached the base of Mulshi. My best bet would be to cross any of the ghats and reach NH4 before it gets too dark .

Its not Khed Shivapur , just Khed. Khed Shivapur is on NH4 near Pune.
This route should be easily doable in a day. If you dont stop and tarry around for too long, you should be able to make it past Tamhini before dark. Of course its a given that you dont start too late in the day either.

Its not Khed Shivapur , just Khed. Khed Shivapur is on NH4 near Pune.

Thanks, Hyperion. There are so many bloody Kheds in this general area that I G Mapped for Khed Shivapur and got it as the place to the south of Pune where we intend to lunch.

Absolutely correct, nav. We intend to really stretch our legs and bugger the sore butts. I will be stressing on the complete LACK of hypoxia to rally the team around.

Thanks a lot for the warning. I will definitely urge the Mumbaikers to accompany me north of Khed and then ride on to Mumbai having dropped me off at Pune and I am sure that they would agree to do so. I don't want to waste ammunition in wasting some highway stick-up punks and thereby, get into trouble with the "law".
