    • The worst-weekend-ever! Sorry i couldn't even tell anyone about not being able to come! I was completely out of network over the weekend!

Putting a signature here is just as hard as writing "About Me" on Tinder.

Since you couldn't inform anyone about your absence, now you owe us a treat in the next g2g.

If this is the norm now a days, how about you treating us with free tea / coffee for next year or so (for all uninformed absences) ? Alternatively, you can throw a lavish party to settle the account in one go.

You can make alternate arrangement with me by paying a small amount of cash also

Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."

I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

                      • Would like to express the pleasure and happiness at seeing the younger members of the group meet all the challenges of planning a group ride. Some positives that were evident
                        1. Everyone was kept well informed. Communication was excellent.
                        2. Departure time, group allocation was also communicated well in advance.
                        3. Group re-shuffling at the last minute was well handled
                        4. A few participants were turned back due to lack of riding gear. It is always sad to see anyone being turned away, especially after all the effort in getting up early and riding to the meeting point; However, we all ride on some of the most difficult to ride roads anywhere on this planet. I feel that though harsh, this is the correct line of action. Request all to take it in the right spirit. We would love to ride with you on some other ride.
                        5. All participants were well behaved and rode within their limits.
                        6. The ride to Windmill farm was really disciplined.
                        7. The ride back too, was equally great.

A couple of things that can be incorporated.
                        1. Ensure that at least one carries a foot pump or an electrical pump. With tubeless tyres, almost any bike can make it to the nearest possible repair shop with this.
                        2. First Aid Kit/Medicine kit information and responsibility was missing this time. The ride moderator can assign this responsibility to one of the participants
                        3. Money can be collected from all the participants at the onset of the ride. This can be used for breakfast/lunch/refreshments and the account can be settled post ride.

Finally, a big thumbs up to Kuntal and team for a very professional ride. Keep it up!

Thank you very much Sir for your kind words.
Moreover, finding out the areas which need improvement was a necessary one. We will make sure these things are covered next time.
Hope to ride with you many more times in future.

Thanks to Vishwas sir for guiding us on how to plan the ride.
Thanks to Gaurav W, Aman, Amrit, Prabhat, Viper, Eshan, Puspal for Leading and Tailing the groups and helping in organising the ride.

A good point NV. It was a great disciplined ride. After last time, on our ride to Shrivardhan one of the riders had been in an accident and that time I had decided to carry first aid kit with me on every ride, short or long. On sunday's ride also I had water, all necessary first aid kit items with me. Next time we will make it a point to get a puncture kit and a foot pump along.
                            Cheers.

                            • The Steel Gloved warrior of Pune xBHP, the kind who knocks down 2 people in just one punch is getting married today in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Chhodna nahi saale ko jab waapis pune aaye!! It seems he hasn't told anyone here
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Wonderful ride by 21st century Don Quixotes, assaulting windmills even today. Pray, where are the fair maidens who motivated this life-threatening enterprise

May I suggest a simple way of planning the ride?

We have an acronym in the Army. It is as old as the hills and the oceans and has been used by virtually every single officer of the arms at some point or the other. This is true specially for ex NDA chaps. It is applicable for every single operation whether in war or peace and for any formation from a squad to an Army Group. For bikers, I have modded the original a bit. It goes this way:

Z for "Zamin" (Ground) - everything about the terrain one is to ride on. For riders, it means the road and everything connected to it - surface, quality, length, turns, intersections, obstacles. Add as many FACTS as possible. Can be done on a sketch or map.

K for "Khabar" (Information) - originally, there are two types of khabar - "dushman ki" and "apni". For bikers, it will be only the "apni" khabar that matters. So, number of riders and their names, bikes, groups etc.

I is for "Irada" (Aim) - the aim. For example, this ride would have had an irada like"to ride from _______ to ________ and back". If superfluous, can be left out. But there is no plan without an aim...

T for "Tariqua" (Method) The exact manner in which the aim will be achieved e.g. start, ride formations, halts, stops. All responsibilities allotted here - ride lead, ride tail, group leads and tails etc.

B for "Bandobust" (Administration) - Assembly areas, Est Time of Dep (ETD), ET of Arrival, ET Elapsed, fuel, oil, lubricants, food, water/drink, places where available, repair and maintenance, medical, responsibilities. Names, places, numbers.

M for "Milap" (Communication) - Originally, code words, call signs, frequencies etc. Here, cell numbers of riders and their ICE numbers, hand (and leg) signals.

G for "Ghadi Milao" (Sync watches) - so that all riders are on the same grid.

Each part of the briefing to be done by a rider earmarked earlier.

At first sight, this seems a bit too much for a ride. But over time, one gets used to thinking in terms of ZKITBMG and then realises the wisdom of planning in this logical manner so that nothing gets left out. We all can have inputs on what to include and after this one-time effort, we have a template for any and every ride.
