The point here is - earlier whoever was the senior most rider used to assume responsibility for the ride. Now the person calling for the ride is responsible.

eg. I call a ride to xyz location. Even if you, NV, Sagar, Ritwik, all are present, I am responsible for checking bike documents, ensuring that all riders are wearing safety gear and following general ride norms.

Bhai, sirf 3 post abhi kar do. Vapis se paach hajaar cross hoga aur is baar to ham sub logonko party chahiye. Last time you skimped on it so people plotted against you and got your post count down. :-)

Correct! Leadership should be naturally assumed. After all, you are riding with your extended family. The kind of ownership shown during rides should be similar to the way you would if your family was riding with you.

I forgot to add one more point in the list. As my good friend Rohan quotes "A good rider is not the one who scrapes his knee or goes around fast. A good rider is the one who knows his limits and rides fast staying in his capabilities.". This is so true. Many a times, riders behind follow the leaders into corners and straights trying to keep even distance and ride well above their comfort zones.
The key is, stay in your comfort zone. No one is going to find faults with you or label you as a slouch. Such riders are always assets to the group and will always stay safe.

                  • I second NV on all the points he has discussed in his post. Going forward every member is requested to adhere to the basic safety norms that have been laid down on every ride. Pune Xbhpians take pride in the safety standards that they have set and implemented over the last year or so and
we would like to keep it that way.

                      • @ NV - every time i feel incidence teaches us, like i remember one case i remember one member had gone for cornering without knee guards and got his knees injured, which was when i had just joined the pune XBHP.

When sagar crashed we learnt that pro biker gloves are worse quality, now when rockrz crashed we learnt about the distance and sticking to the lane too much can cause issues.

I feel the harsh rule of debarring a member should made for only members who have known lavasa very well, as in case of rockrz i felt he firstly did the biggest mistake of not asking Jason, who is a experienced rider which he should have not done, secondly he was confused with the fog as there is a possibility that he never experienced riding in fog, thirdly if he was there for the first time cornering at lavasa, then he was too much into sticking to the white line which while cornering which he dint realized (or may be someone dint informed him), who knows next time some one more can repeat the same mistake so i think this all if instructed properly can help a lot many members and then if they dont stick to rule they should be punished.

Well, that is right...but that junior member should be responsible enough or he can take help from seniors too(present for the ride) as you rightly mentioned.

No one is blaming Rockerz at this moment. All those who are reading this, please understand that the debate isnt about what Rockerz or other members did last Sunday. It is more about how we can improve and avoid such issues in the future.
Imagine if all the participating members had read these rules before the ride, the outcome might have been different.
Also, the Ban is effective after ample chances have been given to that member. Members are not banned on the first instance of violation.

Which idiot said that sticking to the lane causes issues? If you can't corner in your lane, your riding technique is an issue; not sticking to the lane.

                              • I just had a thought...... if it's good enough, we can go forward.......

In the first page all the rules are mentioned. Every safety gears necessary for ride is also mentioned. I'm expecting that every new member goes through it. But a new member sometimes doesn't realizes its importance till he faces an issue. NV has very well jotted down the points & other members have also put few other points to it. So, if we can put these points and other member's experiences too in second or third post. Don't want to add those points in the first post because the post will be too long to read and all info together will look cumbersome. So, if we can have a second or third post inserted there. This post will be more concerned about the experiences. Like Srinath mentioned about the experiences of few members. They might be helpful for other new members. We can group these experiences in different sections and different people can gain useful tips from these sections. No need to mention the names of the Xbhp-ian(). It'll be useful even for experienced members who want to try different thing other than their field of expertise. Like a cornering junkie won't having any experience on touring. So, everyone will benefiting from it.
Its better to have these info in one place rather than having them lost in the pages of Pune Thread.

on the lighter side...... ChulBul Paaji only 2 to go...... we want treat this time...... don't you just run away ....... anytime anyplace().......
