You have not been fortunate enough to lay hands on this bike. This bike REALLY IS nearly brand new as it has changed nearly every part be it body or engine till now. Only part that was not changed was the rider which would happen shortly.

My deepest condolences to the new buyer.

Anyone can make fun of anyone anywhere. Who says it is not allowed?

We tolerate all those non ISI helmets of substandard brands like Shoei, AGV. We also tolerate senior members posting group photos of parked bikes and riders standing on footpath that are shot under No parking/No standing boards.

Only thing not tolerated is making fun of a serious discussion / topic in progress.

        Edited : thanks to Ishan

@Niks/Nav: You should try the Ride On sealant thing. I have it on the 650, and it really works well with no stability issues in any speeds. Google/YouTube for a video of it. So far the tyre has lived post one puncture that just had to be plucked out and ridden!

If all those brands can certify themselves in US, Europe, UK, and even Austrlia and Japan individually, then why not in the WORLDS LARGEST TWO WHEELER market?

Its a larger debate than shoving it under the carpet of 'archaic' thinking? Unless ofcourse by archaic thinking, you meant on the manufacturers front.

are u talking about slime or the can which fills air and seals it?

btw , i have slime in the rear of fz1. when i change tyres , will it make the tyre useless or just the slime will be wasted ?

I was talking about the slime. The Motul thing is the same, its a slime with some compressed air in it for you to be able to inflate the tyre. Just that its a reactive measure than a proactive measure.

(Am sitting on nonsense techinical call, and so pardon the terms :P)

The high speed sealant lasts for the life of the tyre, and is water soluble. So you can simply wash it off if you intend to store the tyres. You cant reuse the solution though.

PS: If you have the Yamaha green slime, then best of luck. I had a bit of bad experience with that. It couldnt fix a small puncture also!

Already using Slime for tube in Fiero, since May'2010. Have seen it fix a puncture in the rear tyre during that year's Ladakh ride. Already bought two more bottles for tube's, from US, as only for TL tyres is available in India (when I last searched).
I guess, the fix will also depend on the size of puncture.

I know of one more person, who has faced issue with slime causing some difficulty at higher speeds, due to the front tyre running it.
And for TL tyres, I'll prefer fixing the puncture (as TL's normally don't deflate as fast as tube) with the small kit that can easily be carried.

Cant be the same stuff man. The chap in mumbai is the ONLY authorised dealer here, and is now a friend. I dont think he services any auto service centres so far.

There are many such products, and the trick is the formulation. Many of these slimes form lumps and hence effect the handling, especially in cases when you start the bike from a standstill for a day or so, or when you are riding in very high speeds. The Ride-On solution has a patented formulation which allows them to guarantee "Life time wheel balancing"! So much for lumps and wobbling issues!

I will end up looking like a sales man for the same :P actually I had researched a bit before taking the plunge.... so!

                        Edit:
                        Niks:
Yeah I know its not the Yamaha brand. I had a bad experience with it on the R15 where the slime just oozed out instead of doing any help! I have no clue on why that happened

Nav - Yeah, the wobbling thing happens on high speeds and hence the need for a hi speed sealant which doesnt form a lump! Have been using the same on my bike without any worry so far. So is George (Centaur), Pratheek and a couple of other Ninja owners as well as some on the R15s.
As far as fixing the tyre is concerned, you have all the time in the world to do that he he!

First of all, I do not want to get into any debate on this topic. This would be my last post on this subject. This is not a personal attack on you or anyone else.

My opinions are as mentioned below:

                          1. The individual you are concerned about is on good terms at least with me. So how do you know that he is actually offended?
                          2. If a post is directed towards a friend, mark it so. Even if we may not be as smart as some other town guys, we may be able to understand difference between a post directed towards a friend and a post making fun of the topic being discussed.
                          3. This thread is supposed to be Pune thread. So let Pune members sort it out among ourselves. I do not see any Pune member posting something irrelevant or being offended because of fun/jokes happening on Mumbai thread.

The problem is people should understand they should post only when there is a need to post. It should only be a query or an answer to it or a g2g/ride plan.

But most of us post here for entertainment and chit chat. So this trend is going to continue like this until people mature.
