Not to mention that the RE custom seats I had fitted have spoiled her as a pillion. Now no pillion seat is good enough for her and she frowns every now and then on my decision to sell the classic.
So how about a party this sunday at RK lonavala for the 220. Dont worry you can ride her in runnin in limits. We all will ride with you as this had happened in my case too

        Friendly suggestion:
Do the running in at the Lavasa curves. At least you won't be as bored as you would be otherwise.

Carry a pillion if you want but it is not recommended that you do.

Lonavala is a bad idea for solo running in, so bad that it borders on being dangerous. You are limited to 65 kmph / 4k RPM during run in but I wouldn't ride anywhere below 80 on NH4 for the sake of my own safety. R15 can be taken all the way upto 75 during run in itself, that's not the case with the P220.

Finally, avoid highways before you get your riding gear.

As for the speedo cable fiasco, I feel they sold you one of the display bikes (not test ride bike ). If that's the case then I wouldn't be THAAT worried. In case you do want to check, check the oil color, for a <100 km run bike, it should be golden in color. It will also have distinctly visible small metal shavings if you drain it this early. These will confirm that the oil is in fact the one filled at factory/ 1st fill and not 'recently changed'.

Yup.Its very hard to control the throttle on P220.
If its a display bike then I guess its not that bad a thing..
Regarding my almost negligibe technical knowledge about bikes its as good as a first grader...So you may have to tell me how to check the engine oil color..
Do I have to drain it to check the color or is there a way for doing it without the drain procedure?

Yours being a new bike should have a pretty clear oil window.

Check for the engine oil color through that...

First of all, you need to put the bike on main stand. There is a small circular engine oil inspection window on the right side of the crankcase (just above the rear brake lever). Color of the engine oil can easily be seen in there.

For checking metal shavings, you will have to drain the entire oil. But do that only if you feel the engine-oil is not golden.

OK. I checked the oil inspection window and the oil was a little transparent with a lite yellowish/golden tinge. No black oil there. I guess that means everything's good?

Either that, or that your bike was serviced and delivered to you.

Actually after a thorough oil drain, at least 200 ml of old oil still remains in the P220 system (due to the oil cooler) and to remove that, we need to get messy. The mess is not easy to clean up within 45 minutes. The other option is to drain the oil twice and refilling twice = well invested money to destroy evidence.
