  • The Rs.100 thing happened with me a lot of times. Now since i got my CBR im extra careful at all petrol pumps.Even for my car.

The worst rip-off i caught was the guy asking me to pay 300 more!!! I had read the meter but he charged something else,so when i went back & told him that, that much amount of fuel cant be accomodated in the tank he immediately returned 300 bucks without arguing.Explanation he gave was that the amount from the other side of the tank (usually 1 tank has 2 fueling pipes on each side) had been added to my amount.LOL!
I trusted that pump the most (near karishma society, kothrud), but since that day i now only fuel up at shell petrol pumps whenever im within city limits.

    Cheers.

    • Shit happens when we are not careful. As I have PetroCard with me I prefer filling up at BPCL pumps. I've filled fuel at most of the BPCL petrol pumps. So far(for past 4-5 years) no problem.

      • I always say to the petrol pump attendant "Kaka, zero dakhava nahitar paise nahi denar me!" meaning "Uncle show me the zero or I wont pay you anything!" (Friendly yet sarcastic tone) I always fill petrol from HP Petrol Pump at Nal Stop, Karve Road, found it pretty reliable.

Similar incident happened with me at BPCL at Karve Road, took him left and right, shouted on him and got the correct quantity of petrol.

        Cheers!

I tried to argue with him but it was waste.

          So be careful.
Almost similar incident happend with me y'day at the HP petrol pump on Alandi road. I asked for 500 Rs petrol, he just filled 100 and stopped. I reminded him that I asked for 500. He said ok. I will retest and fill another 400. he pretended to retest the meter by moving his fingers over the machine number panel. I was observing him (with helmet on), but perhaps he did not notice. The moment he started filling, I stopped him and said that he did not reset the meter... he was kinda shocked.. and accepted that..he did not have any choice... i paid only 500 for 500 Rs petrol..

Last time it happened with me at Hinjewadi petrol pump near Wipro, and I was sure that meter was not reset, but did not stop the filling guy. us usual he asked me 500 + 100, I argued with the guy and told him that you show me the meter log, these are all digital meters now and have the log of each transaction.. he gave up..

Except in the rare case where the previous customer has bought exactly 100 Rs petrol, you can always prove that there was a single transaction of (say 500 Rs) and no previous transation of 100. you just need to be lucky sometimes..

the moral is.. be careful and don't take your eyes off the meter what ever happens ..

I would like to attend xBHP rides and G2G's.
I have all the safety gears but I have a question about bike papers; Is it ok if I carry license and RC card of bike or do I have to always carry bike insurance xerox as well?

            • Lesson Learnt

Hi folks, hope every one is doing well.

Wanted to share an incidient which happened to me last night. Was returning from Burger Barn at NIBM road last night it was 10:15 pm was just approaching the NIBM junction when all of a sudden my bike hit a stone which was lying carelessly in the middle of the moderately lit road. Didnt realised what exactly happened in that moment was cruising at 40-50 kmph & the bike suddenly hit something & next thing I remember was my face hitting the the front fairing of the bike & hitting the ground hard. Got up in that very moment & realised that I was bleeding profusely from the nose & chin & mouth (yeah I was not wearing a helmet). People came in to help me stay up as the fall was quiet hard. They also offered to take me to the hospital but I politely declined & rode to my friends place who stays few meters away from the accident spot. They took me to the Inamdar hospital where I had a total of 10 stitches on the upper part of my nose, chin & lost 4 teeth in the front coz of this incident. Fortunately the CT scan showed no serious internal & external injury. Phew Gods Grace

1st Lesson Learnt: Always wear a helmet.

Yes it is because of my idioicy that I have learnt a lesson the hard way. From now one I will always carry a helmet even if I am driving for a short distance & not just for a long ride.

2nd Lesson Learnt: Prevention is better than cure.

No matter how careful & a good rider you just cant be sure of the other road users or the hazards on the road itself.

Hope those who read about my incident be extra careful while riding next time so that no one goes through the pain & trouble which I am going through right now.

Ride safe & ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET!! Cause any one else including me may not be as luck as I was yesterday.

              Drive Safe.

              Cheers,

Good to hear that you are doing fine now. Take care and do ride safe with a helmet always on.

My brother-in-law also met with an accident last month when a 16 year old dashed him from the front. The guy was busy talking on his cell phone and riding at high speed when he hit my brother-in-law. He is under aged and doesn't have a license to ride. Both were rushed to a nearby doctor's clinic where both started bleeding from the nose and puking blood. The other guy was okay but my brother-in-law wasn't responding. We had to rush him to Inamdar hospital where the doctor said he has severe injuries in his head after having a CT scan. He had developed a blood clot and fractured his skull bone on the left side. He also has multiple fractures in his nose bone which will be treated later. He was operated within a few hours and the clot removed. He was on life support and in ICCU for few days and the doctor said that the surgery is a risky one and nothing can be said till he gets conscious. Miraculously he recovered within 2 weeks and was discharged from the hospital after 20 days. He still has to have his second surgery after 3 months to get cementing done in the skull since the bone has been removed deforming the shape of the skull. He had to go through all this without any fault of his

The point is IF he would have been wearing a helmet, all this pain could have been avoided. There are many idiots out there who can make your life miserable. So be careful and prepared for the worst on the roads.

                • Pretty sad incident Sam, everyone should wear helmet at all times, before you want to learn it the hard way. So, adhere to this rule all the time..

Murtaza: good to know that ur brother-in-law is recovering nicely after such a dreaded accident. Hope he recovers fully and is back to his normal routine and perfect health.
