Hey guys,

I know this isn't typical G2G thread material, but I need help and I'm desperate.

I want to get my dad some DIY add-ons for his first-gen Fiero, as a birthday present. I was thinking of a K&N air filter and maybe some touring accessories like saddle bags. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me some simple mods that can be done on a Fiero without needing power tools or having to take it to a workshop. (cos he's quite handy and I know he'll insist on doing it himself)

I only have a day to get it, and it should be something I can take on an aeroplane. Please help!

I dont know what exactly DIY are you looking for, but i would suggest you go and take a look at Funkies on MG road. He has got many decals, spray cans, fancy handle bar grips,keychains and what not. You may find something interesting. Any more cosmetic upgrades, may be a peep into Probikers on same road.

A lot.

ride to mahaB was cool. Weather was awesome, I didnt unzip my leathers even once.
While returning everyone did the usual stuff. full throttle
I clocked 299 today...my fastest ever !

Ride to MahaB isnt even half as tiring as what a ride to lavasa is.

You can get the k&N but refrain as far as possible. its better that you get the engine decarbonised, flushed and carb retuned..
none of this is a DIY but trust me it wil be any time better unless you want your dad to spend more time rectifying the problems rather than riding the bike

some of the issues that are known with the k&N is :-
1) cops hate them and consider them as bad as free flows and you get unwanted attention from them.
2) you can reach the moon and come back to earth on a luna 50cc earlier than get the exact tuning for your carb jetting. especially if you are doing it DIY. a pro with the a/f meter, oxygen sensor, automobile STHETESCOPE etc etc will require minimum of 1 month approx.
3) the filter is said to damage the engine due to its lower filteration of air. even though I feel this is not true cos as yet i am not having any problems with mine.
4) however beautifully you modify, you wont get anything faster than a well maintained fiero. you will definately feel that you are going faster.

For making it a better bike, you will have have to change practically everything in the bike. especially the following:-
1) carb
2) chain sprocket kit
3) engine oil
4) valves
5) high compression cylinder kit
6) high lift camshafts.
I hope you get the complexity involved... its better to gift him a high capacity bike rather than do anything to his fiero.
i have tried this on my bike and trust me, its not worth the effort unless you wanna go vintage bike racing after a couple of years or if you really wanna get the basics of the automobile engineering right the hard way.

actually she does not have the brains in the first place to protect so she is indifferent to helmets

if you can get a nice idea, please also suggest a helmet with a demon's face scribled on it?? In that way, you will actually be helping me since i can save her from the infinitely many prying eyes!!!
