But, during group rides, as this 2-second requirement means the group will eventually split too far apart, it is relaxed to 1 second with the added condition that you will not follow the line of the rider in front and ride in a staggered formation as shown below

And so on and so forth...

This way, all odd an even numbered riders ride behind other odd and even numbered riders(1-3-5 and 2-4-6). And since each rider is 1 second behind the rider immediately in front, he is in fact 2 seconds behind the rider whose line he is following.(each '_' means a gap of 0.5 second)

These timings however are flexible and may be raised in case of challenging riding conditions like rain / off-road / gravel where braking distances increase. Riding with these tolerances ensures that we avoid incidents involving multiple bikes crashing into each other during a group ride.

@Eshaan Stop flooding the thread. Did you not read the thing about not posting continuous messages and the one about excessive smilies? How many smilies can you count in this multi-line post of mine?
P.S.: The other topics on The Art of Safe Riding are also good. Do give them a read(re-read for those who have already read it.. a revision never hurts )

Long while back.. On our only ride together. Lonavala to khopoli dirt track. You had brought your RX that day. Maybe you have improved since... But we haven't ridden together since so I don't know that yet. .

The above post was not meant as an insult / to be rude. It was only to bring out a healthy discussion regarding group riding which will eventually help us in the upcoming rainy.. oops riding season.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

            • @Anant: The formation you mentioned is good..even if people follow the simple formation and maintain good distance between bikes that'll be good too for the whole group.

@Eshan: kindly start using multi-quotes, it'll help many people.

I had made similar suggestion earlier but he says that multi-quotes is disabled at his place. So will need help from technical guys on advice to Eashaan about how to enable it.

Multiqoute means replying to two or more messages at one time ( which is completely not working here on my pc in office). You need not post every reply separately as you have the option to multiqoute the messages into one single reply.
                      Benefits-
                      1) Helps in keeping a good flow of topic
                      2) Saves memory
                      3) Does not create confusion

Demerits iam not aware may be senior members here can explain on that part!

Are bhai jab to kisi quote ka reply karta hain tab starting main aisa QUOTE=Eshan-P180;638634 hota hain usse chipka aur us quote ke end pe aisa chipka /QUOTE ab yeh mat bol tere office main yeh bhi nahi dikhta aisa sare quotes ka reply de. Before you reply to one quote make sure the quote is ended with /QUOTE and the next quote should start with QUOTE=Eshan-P180;638634 and that way you can go on. Do not forget to use this brackets [ ] at the start and end of quotes.

If not that you can use @ persons name also and give multiple replies for the same.

thats strange! it works even on mobile browser (opera mini 5)

still, I am not qualified enough to guess the answer, but wishing you all an happy ot discussion

Btw, can anyone tell me the symptom of an busted rear swingarm bush?

lately, the bike is running wobbly, i tried replacing the front brearing suspecting that it was the culprit but it has not helped.

Please do not reply if you dont have the specific answer cos i have already tried showing it to the showroom, but I got the expected answer "your rear swing arm is gone, whole assly needs to be changed!" and that includes the rear alloy".

If anyone knows a technically sound mechanic, please pm me the contact details

thanks in advance for resisting to put up non relevent answers
