      ...............Have fun! Safe journey!

Thanks a lot Ketan, Srinath, Antz, DK and all who helped....

While going I followed the NH4 -Nipani - Uttur - Ajara - Amboli Ghat...
While coming back it was same till Uttur and then Gargoti - Kagal - NH4....

It was a fantastic journey, Goa is green even on this red hot heat season.
Nokia OVI did a fabulous job inside Goa. It knew streets which were one-car wide...
Saw a big (at least 10) super bikes group in Goa. 5-6 Intruders, 1 R1, Old Blades, Gixers and probably a goldwing...(not sure)

AFAIK, This is a steel part. but will check this out. however, in the play that i have mentioned, I am considering only the play of swing arm!

yesterday, i got the rear swing arm assly disassembled at castrol bike zone kothrud. according to him,
          1) the swing arm bearing (NRB) is near its end of life.
          2) the wheel bearings are in decent condition but he recomends replacing them since its not everyday when you open the whole assly
          3) he does not recomend this bike for taking corners as even after the bearing change, there is will be some play of the order of 5 mm.

but since I am short of funds, I will be getting this done after some time.

Step 1 - Check the Shock Absorber settings on both the sides
Step 2 - Check the Chain allignment
Step 3 - Check the effin rear tyre and the RIM
Step 4 - Check the Swing Arm play by physically pushing it
Step 5 - Check its not the titanium breather pipe causing any issue
Step 6 - Check if you can sell the Hero Honda Junk and switch back to CD100, after all you corner well on it

Does this article help you in any way?

Answers.com - Why do you get Motorcycle speed wobbles

            Especially the following para:
Although many things can contribute to starting a wobble, they generally won't happen if your steering head bearings are properly maintained. Test your steering head bearings by accelerating to 50 mph or so on a straight, smooth road on a calm day with no oncoming traffic. Close the throttle and remove your hands from the handlebars. If your bike's steering seems to pick a direction and stick there, your steering head bearings are too tight. If there is any wobble at all, your steering head bearings are too loose.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

THIS IS the reason why the ninja250r mini tank slaps at 60kmph. pBK doesnt think that this is the reason but it is.

                        • Accident near Akrudi Signal

I take the old mumbai pune highway road to commute to office and back daily. Saw a freak accident today and i am totally shaken down right now.

A girl and a guy on a pulsar 150 Dtsi took the entry into the inner lanes after crossing Akurdi signal. They were hit by a truck from behind which was in the leftmost lane and both of them had fallen down and skidded for quite a distance. Both of them are working in the same company and were leaving home when this happened. They made it out alive as of then but the girl took the maximum brunt of the accident.

She was badly bruised and her whole body was grazed from her shoulders, back, arms, legs, stomach and her inner thighs too, very badly.Passersby rushed to the spot immediately and a guy was holding her from the back, kinda making her sit.She was in an utter state of shock and i kind of stopped my bike in front of her.I was looking at her face and she had this helpless shocked stare in her eyes and she didn't move for 10-15 seconds, couldn't take my eyes off her.She absolutely didn't know what was happening around her.

The guy could stand up and run around and i am assuming he got away with minor scratches. People around forcefully stopped a rick and asked the guy to get in while others carried the girl in.She was lying there almost lifeless and not a tear in her eyes. The auto guy was instructed to rush to some nearby hospital.I followed the rick for quite a distance honking and clearing out the way ahead. I am totally petrified right now.The girl is so beautiful and it was sad to see her in a state like this. The bike was kinda fine and the guy was wearing a Vega off road helmet which got dragged on the road and i am assuming he didn't fasten the straps.

The same spot ,the same time ,same day last week two guys on a pulsar 150 were hit by a car from behind in the same manner. Both of them were not wearing a helmet and one of the guys was bleeding profusely from the head and his leg was fractured. The other guy was in a manageable state though. The bike got dragged away for quite a distance and i picked up the bike ,locked it and dropped the keys in one of the guy's pocket while the ambulance arrived.

I felt like sharing this with you cos this particular highway i found it to be very dangerous with vehicles flying by at 100-110 speeds in the inner lanes (no signals for another 10-12 kms) and people carelessly using the entries and exits. None of them look into their rear view mirrors while entering or exiting and vehicles inside have absolutely zero lane discipline. In fact ,most of the pune roads i ve travelled are wide, uneven and people know zilch about sticking to their lanes. Even the guys on the left most inner lane take up speeds of 80-90 quite close to the entry and exit points.

Ride Safe Guys and remember safety is not only for you when you are with a pillion.

                          Godspeed

Two good points you made there.
About the RVMs and about riding safely for the pillion if not for yourself...

I'm sure most of us here ride with RVMs. I would feel very uncomfortable riding without RVMs.

Going at 100 in the leftmost lane is a strict no no but sometimes you can't help it when a maruti 800 doing 40 is in the fast lane..

Well like they say.. common sense is n't really common and in the case of indian traffic, its really non-existent.. taking U turns without checking the traffic behind and turning without indicators and the list is endless!

I guess we as responsible riders should either just shut up and stop complaining about the traffic and ride with eyes wide open or every once in a while try explaining a little common sense to other riders/drivers..

                            That is all.

                            • accommodation needed-urgent

                              Hi Guys,

Posting this message out of urgency.
Few friends of mine has been transferred from Bangalore to Pune this week and they are going to reach Pune on 4th June, ie on Saturday noon. Now the problem they have no idea about the city, all of them are girls, so thats a main problem! They are looking out for a decent place currently.Their office is located in Hinjewadi IT Park. So places like wakad, baner would be good! Plus language is also a main barrier for them, as they hardly speak Hindi and Marathi. If not a proper house, a temporary house would for about a week or 2 would be good as they dont know anyone there.
Kindly help me with this! Its just 2 days remaining before they land in this city!
                              Thanks a lot!
