PSR sir I am wondering the resonator for shogun and shaolin is same ( earlier is 108.2 cc and later was 138.7 ), anything fishy here

    Cheers !!

Resonance in autromobile inlet/exhaust is governed by the CC of displacement ,stroke length, and the cavity into which the resonator is inserted....for instance a 135cc short stroke engine will have multiples of higher frequency compared to a long stroke 135 which will have lower frequency resonance ...so a resonator for short stroke bike will be smaller compared to a longer stroke engine ...and the volume of the resonance and it's intensity will also be more in a longer stroke compared to short stroke.(all other things remaining same)

They were also making expansion chambers for the RX as a rival to KRP ( at that time, KRP chambers were producing holes in the piston crown and there was a huge demand for other brands ).

Proton had single stage standard fiber reed valve & dual stage boyesen reed valve for RX and single stage fiber reed valve for Shogun. I bought a single stage pair for my RX and a pair for my friend's Shogun. That was the last time i was in contact with Proton.

          { sadly, Proton, though it still exists has shifted to other businesses and the owner never replies to mails & FB messages }

Shoguns were launched to beat the RX and they had their day, but where are they now ? the company did not adapt ~ one cannot call a Shaolin a true replacement for the Shogun. It was more like a Samurai with 5 gears & more cc ( i rode my juniors Shaolin for a year ). Atleast Yamaha fought hard till the end with various adaptations to the RX series

Thank you for the info about the 135 versions ( but i still think that there was a version with factory fitted disc & fuel guage ~ how true, i am not sure ). I'll start hunting for a 5 speed 135 immediately.

For your information I have ridden with KRP expansion chamber in my RX 100 it did showed some difference you are 100 % correct KRP chambers will make holes in piston chambers due to high compression in the exhaust Proton's to I tried but never matched KRP's I have seen Aditya automobiles selling Proton chambers for 1800 Rs some 3 years back not sure how much they are costing now and also whether they are selling it still ... I used it for mere 6 months once I heard removed and changed back to stock .... RX 135's never came with disc setup except RXZ's no other RX series came with the disc setup

Shaolin was Unported, Normal exhaust, five speed gives Neck to neck competition to the Rx 135 4 & 5's and the ported one with chamber kills every one in its class, It was the TVS official race spec bike which they had won so many rally's. I wont agree as Shaolin was bigger samurai, Many here wont agree as they had witnessed.

          Cheers !!
          Karthi
Yes Karthi Ji they beat RX 100's fair and square but one major problem why many riders still sticked to RX's are it class leading handling and breaking which is equally important to engine power... i even heard many group C and D rally bikes of that time where equally divided by shogun's and RX's personally I have seen it too in scissors rally and many other rallies of that time ....
That is the reason Yamaha came out with 135's to beat up shogun's

Karthi Ji did you remeber a guy asking me on the return leg from Chikmaglur how is he driving a samurai with mighty RX's I just informed him its not samurai it is Shoalin and he asked wat bike is that

Rear tire then change it ... not because of fuel consumption it will spoil the handling of the bike and will lead to some pain in the shoulder I have seen most RXZ's running with that type of setup it is for sheer look nothing other than that please change it..
Suren you came into the world of 2strokes it will take most of your time and money will run like water even I never rebuild my bike but it costing me a lot and I am saving the money for my RX 100 rebuild for years together..... I got my RX 135 for 27k at that time it just clocked 22,000 kms on odo but belive me I would have spent atleast 15 to 20 K don know in which part I invested but i spent... only a sheer 2 stroke heart keeps me going till now .... So don't panic once you get the feel of 2stroke you wont see the money you are investing on it

Please confirm the date and time for weekend meet

Sure PSR sir thanks for the detailed reply you provided ...... If I need one will definitely call you :0

It's not just okay, I can buy a two stroke and keep it. There are lots of people with beautiful two strokes which are ridden to junk, yet they are lots of junk bikes turned to factory spec masterpieces. You know, Ram, Sriram, Karthi. TIME!! Fuc***g time and PATIENCE is the mantra.

I mean, I personally can't see any of my four strokes that are just laden there in my home broken and shoddy, it will hurt you much, imagine that of a two stroker with genuine interest to really looking after them, and still can't afford to do the things they wanted to do in the first place and then buying it for just out of zeal (plain common sense here)

Two strokes are the hearthrobs who have really ridden them for a long time. A four stroker wouldn't know much what a real two stroker is, unless one spent his significant years riding it, which have made the riders quite informatic and for the knowledge they have now.

I myself have been tempted to buy a two stroke just for the sake of it. I personally don't like to differentiate between 100 135 4 5 RXZ 350 250 125 etc etc. But buying just based on "he has buy" is only gonna dent ones pocket, unless one really knows what he/she's doing.

So, all the best. You have lots of good two strokers with enough knowledge to help you out. Join in some two stroke forums, this is how you get the info. Invest some time in these threads, go through these, this is how everyone gets the information they need. You might think whoa, he knows so much! Why? He reads, he reads stuff that most doesn't. Because he's made mistakes! It's just simple! If you're interested you'll be tempted, else you'll lose interest soon.

Remember, two strokes aren't rocket science, you can learn all the things you want, at least 70% of it by reading through online and some good friends willing to really help you out.

All the best. I want it to be one of the best RXZ in our Cbe group. And don't forget to give me a ride though.

                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                                THE END
