    Day 3 : Idukki - Cumbam - Chennai

Any pointers towards road / weather conditions around Thekkady / Vagamon & Idukki would help.

Is there a direct road connecting Vagamon to Idukki? Google Maps suggests a route connecting idukki via Muttom & Kulamavu. Could we by pass them and reach Idukki via any other route?

I'm starting this Wednesday and any help would be of immense help

Hope u have already got tips on chennai-thekkady route.............. Thekkady to Vagamon is average road with good tarmac..around 65 kms.........and for sure its a cornering heaven........take at-most care while you drive through the area............ there are some nice view pints in the mid of the route........
Parunthumpara is one of the main one............ its about 30 kms away from Kumily. Check the photos below. And I recommend you for staying at Vagamon.......Idukki is also a good option........ There is no route connecting Vagamon and Idukki........ the route suggested by google maps is the possible one right now....... Thats also good road........ there is dense forest in between...... may got elephants on the road...........so try to pass before or in the evening...........

If you re going back to chennai from idukki............. Other than the route idukki-cumbum, i ll suggest another...........
    You just try Idukki-Pooppara-Bodinayakkanur-Theni.
Good road. Other than that its too scenic............. the roads ll be empty with unmatched scenic mountains........... great corners(ie. hairpins)........you ll really enjoy the road and you can reach back to theni at the end of the road......... If you re botherered abut the difference of distance. It is like this
    Idukki-cumbum-chennai - 624 km
    Idukki-bodi-theni-chennai-642 km
Just chose as you wish.......... and please let me know when u re coming.......... I ll do anything I can........... Even I am ready to accompany you for one day..........(I am staying just 53 kms away from Kumily and you wil be passing my home at a distance 20 kms). 2 ZMRs on road in our area will be great......
started riding a motorized cycle on a chetak classic.
Learned to accelerate on Y RX100&135.
Learned not to fall down, the patience to heal wound on knee and to ride long on a classic Pulsar 150(still running)&180.....
Planning for more dream destinations on a new ZMR

it was not an xbhp trip...........he went to his friend's home who reside at Vandiperiyar and went to Gavi along with him............
Sure we people can plan a ride to Gavi.....

To reach Gavi there are 2 routes........
Either we can enter the Gavi forests from Vandiperiyar (ie. Vallakkadavu Checkpost).......have to ride around 100 kms to reach the other end, Moozhiyar...........
[The route is too great to have a ride. A great Forest with wide varieties of Animals and Birds. There is 4 or 5 dams I think (Gavi, Pampa, KozhuPampa, Moozjiyar)]From Moozhiyar, there is road towards Ranni........... So any from TVM can go back through Ranni>Pathanamthitta>Pathanapuram>Chengamanad>Valakam>Ayur>TVM

Otherwise TVM guys can do the trip in the reverse order too.............
