  • @ABZ:

Met Jawed and Deepak when they came back to the city in the afternoon, they told me what happened.

Damn sad man.. sorry that it had to happen to you.. FZs rims are known to be more susceptible to damage, there are a few cases.. But yeah thank God you're alright.

Anyway.. This must've spoilt the day for you, and I hope you got used to our company and that we didn't bore u :P

well what can I say but F*** Yamaha.....
The beginning of the trip was amazing, good speed of 80 - 90, good distance between riders, n good break fast...

Our way home begun by me taking the RTR180 i guess n we begun changing bikes....everyone was in the mood of pushing the 'other' bike to its limit n see its capabilities...

Then back to my FZ-s doing 90 going up a small hill n just after reaching the top. I noticed a big long pot hole(well)..... n it was sandy so my reaction was Fly high...... I was flying high but unfortunately landed badly.... I warned Javeed n rahul who were just behind me n parked the bike to make sure the front shocks were intact.... Only to notice that my rear rim had a slight bend leading to air leakage...one great disadvantage of a tubeless n yamaha product.....

had to get to the nearest shops at low speed n tried hammering the rim only to find a crack after the 2nd hammering.... plan B was to put a tube...

It really worked for about 20-30 kms n it got punctured...... Wanted to repair it again but no puncture guy had 18 ring(FZ owners carry in ur tool kit).... Finally found one.. repaired the puncture n the tire wasw fit... good to go right?? It was punctured before moving...... Opened the tire again only to find a 6 inch cut......

What should I do???? Told the guy to put the tire back n ride 80 kms without air(DONT TRY THIS AT HOME)
did at 65kph till sanipuri if am not wrong and to an auto back home..
NOTE : FZ owners carry a spare pair of rims before going for a trip....
I guess you need a better advice, instead of taking your advice. Please learn how to ride. Fz has a low profile tyre, Its not a dirt bike. You sound like such a noob.

FYI I have been riding Fz for last 14 months and going strong!

That sure looks like Satish. Found a profile in orkut displaying a pic with satish doing a wheelie n sume guy turning back n riding (his signature pic)...warned about the pic n got it deleted. Satish bhai, is surely in demand ...every one wants a piece of him

Sad to hear that buddy. Must have been really frustrating and made your head messed up. just carry the positives you learnt from the incident and be glad that you and the bike have made it home.

Sorry to hear that. I hope nothing bad happened to you.
No offense. but i think Yamaha is not to be blamed for the rim breaking. I believe that any bike's rim would have been bent had it landed in to a ditch of the size that ur bike landed in. There is one positive aspect to the tyres being tubeless.... atleast u managed to drive ur bike back!

and FYI, ABZ has been riding a Honda 750 back in his home country before starting on the FZ in india.. I think he's not really a noob the way you call it. You weren't there so don't judge!

Dirt bike u say? Potholes are common in India. I'm sure that the manufacturer did not intend for the bike to be used in such a way, but there are more cases of FZ rim bending than any of the other bikes, at least by what people say. I could be wrong. In fact please prove me wrong.. And please don't think I'm anti-Yamaha or something.

I guess the condition of roads is more to be blamed than anything else..

I know its not a dirt bike as I was previously having off road bikes....
I reached the top of the small hill n the pot hole was invisible before.... Long one and lots of sand where i justg noticed it.... hitting brakes suddenly or avoiding it would have led to skidding...

This happened unexpectedly on a State highway man, it was all he could do to avoid skidding, he couldn't see the thing till it was too late.
