For vehicles with reg. no starting with 'AP' (including the ones in erstwhile AP i.e. before state separated) https://aptransport.in/APCFSTONLINE/...ionSearch.aspx
For TS (you would require to have the chassis/engine no.) : https://aptransport.in/TGCFSTONLINE/...ionSearch.aspx

      Excellent, thanks!

It shows that my name is no longer associated with my old vehicle which is good.

But there is one thing however, theres this service called VAHAN which is SMS based. I put in my old vehicle's registration number and SMS'd to their number and the reply SMS I got showed my name associated with that vehicle still. (Maybe VAHAN's database is not updated yet? Do they pull the data from our RTOs?)

don't expect our govt websites to all be in sync and up to date
the update on the rto is good enough since that is the main database which is used by rto's to check if you already own a vehicle and tax you extra.

That last bit is exactly why I am concerned. Will be getting a new bike so dont wanna get charged with a 14% Lifetax.

If it's an engine rebuild, try talking to the Varun motors at Kondapur and also at Vinayak at Begumpet.. get an estimate and also ask who is the mechanic who will be working on it. Try to get a mental assessment done before you let them work on your bike.
You can maybe head to ktm banjara and ask Srikanth for a recommendation, but these days even he simply says take it to the bajaj showroom. he has decent knowledge and experience on fixing and rebuilding stock motors on the pulsar and ktm's.
Thanks for the advice. I tried Varun Motors, Kondapur, they even refuse to service the 220 because it's an FI, so no hope from them. Vinayak Begumpet directs you to kachiguda nowadays.

I'll try getting in touch with KTM Banjara/Srikanth though, could help.

Refuse to service?! maybe you should escalate this to bajaj.
and yeh, try asking srikanth at ktm banjara for advice/help.
btw, do you need any help with the fi ? i.e. ecu/injector ?? if not, its going to a pretty much straightforward rebuild like a carb 220.. and spares should be available over the counter (the electronics, i.e. sensors etc.. could be scare in supply though am not 100% sure)

Moved to Hyderabad a few months back. I have an 8 year old / 1L kms Pulsar 220 fi which needs some heavy work on the engine. As it's an fi, only Vinayak Bajaj Kachiguda officially works on the bike. However, since I have seen dealership mechs lose interest in "old bikes", I was thinking of trying some local mechanics for the job. Since I'm new to the city, I don't have an idea about reliable mechanics. While it would be easy to just go t decent looking garage and spend the day while having the mechanic work in my presence, the engine work is expected to take 2-3 days, which means I'll be forced to leave my bike at the garage.

So first question, in your opinion should I go with the dealer service center itself or try a local mechanic? Secondly, if a mechanic, does anyone know some good mechs, preferably near kothaguda/madhapur etc. Keep in mind though that, distance is no bar if the mechanic is worth the time/distance.

                            Thanks in advance guys.
Welcome to Hyderabad dude, If you are still on the lookout for a mechanic to do your rebuild for you, PM me
