Guys, this is the map we are thinking of following from Pune to Bypass Mumbai

Mumbai Pune Bypass Rd to Ghodbunder Rd - Google Maps

I think you are better of getting on the JNPT and then taking a right on the Uran Road and then connecting back to the Sion-Panvel Highway. This is a much faster and smoother road. The rest after that is the same - going all the way till Ghodbunder road.

Also, about state highways, yes, if you can do Udaipur in a day, then please do take the state highways in Gujarat. They are 4-lanes of awesomeness, smooth and empty and save time, a lot of time! We did Udaipur - Mumbai comfortably in 11 hours.

fantastic to see soo many replies . my suggestions are
1. Umbergaon, Daman & Back (I am adding Daman here coz its only about 50-55 kms from Umbergaon.)

2. Dive Agar, Srivardhan & Back (will be a bit longer ride than Daman.)

3. Mahabaleshwar

Let us decide on it any other suggestions ??
