Hey Satyen! does it make sense going to Lavasa by NH 17 and taking a left after Kolad and then reaching Lavasa by that ghat section? And while coming back, coming by the Pune route?Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostThat would mean you guys reach Lavasa by 8:30 (which is not an ideal time) as a lot of people reach there during that time!
Is the Ghat section from Kolad to Lavasa having bad roads or anything?

If possible try to avoid NH17 at dark. That road is deadly during day light and becomes deadlier when there is no light.Originally posted by InsaneRider007 View Postslight change in plans... NH-17 is the shortest route to ganpatipule, Mumbai>Pen>Mahad>Chiplun>ganpatipuleOriginally posted by InsaneRider007 View PostAny ideas about below alternate routes ???

Just before Sangameshwar there is a 'Dingani phata', where u can leave NH-17, it is a local road connecting villages, a small road with absolutely no traffic. Thereby u bypass Nivali phata n save some 15-20 kms. NH-17 between Sangameshwar n Nivali phata was in pathetic condition in Nov 11 (don't know it's status now)

As u r travelling in night, it's better u avoid the diversion I suggested, the road being a local road is totally deserted, no help available, it would be wise to stick to NH-17 (which itself is a nightmare in the night). We took the alternate route while going to ganpatipule (in afternoon), but rode through nivali phata route on our way back (night)Originally posted by InsaneRider007 View Postslight change in plans... By that route you would never reach there on timeOriginally posted by Karthik Mathur (Orange) View PostHey Satyen! does it make sense going to Lavasa by NH 17 and taking a left after Kolad and then reaching Lavasa by that ghat section? And while coming back, coming by the Pune route?

Is there some reason why you are obsessed with lavasa... if curves are what thrills you, you could rather stick to NH17 proceed to Poladpur and ride 10KMs ahead and come back... thats much more interesting!
Anytime before 7ishOriginally posted by BlackScorpian View PostSo what time would be ideal to reach lavasa?
+1 its Maharashtra MOST notorious highwayOriginally posted by pratheekkunder View PostIf possible try to avoid NH17 at dark. That road is deadly during day light and becomes deadlier when there is no light.
The inside roads are prone to other hazards like theft etc.
If you are confident in your night riding abilities and ride sane, then you can definitely do it. Me, Gopi, Karthik and Winzee did the same route last friday...Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more
