If you are confident in your night riding abilities and ride sane, then you can definitely do it. Me, Gopi, Karthik and Winzee did the same route last friday...
Thanks Satyen for the info. I have no problems riding during night. How are the current road conditions ? When Viraj n me had been in November to Malvan, the road conditions were okayish

Also, any idea as to what time we'll have to face the oncoming traffic from Goa of ST walas and private buses ?

So!! It was you guys!! @Sachin Nair you should wear your Yellow jacket. You remain much more recognizable on the road that way.

You peeps passed me just before Pirangut Ghat on your way to Lavasa. I guess some of you might have seen me.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

              • Night riding

Hey! I have an idea to solve the problem of keeping track of the rider following at night when the plethora of headlights on the road makes it impossible to do so:

Every rider should every 2 minutes flash the pass light 3 times (only once if it is flashed then it could be missed) so that the rider in front is sure that the ones supposed to be right behind are indeed right behind.

And any rider who has any doubt that the rider behind has fallen far behind should continuously flash the pass light till all the riders in front do the same and the group leader slows down or stops.

                • lol Sachin :P boora na maano :P

@Karthik that would be both annoying and confusing. Better still wear a bright jacket or ride in close proximity...

All I like about this post is your intend. Night riding requires more focus and concentration as there are different challenges that you face at night which are n't experienced in day time.
No, flashing cannot be an alternative for keeping track of your fellow rider riding behind you. Riding in formation and making good use of RVM will help!

Btw - Did n't all 6 of us did a group ride from Lonavala to JNPT last night!
I guess no one was lost

                    • @satyen

Yeah the constant flashing would be irritating, I was just thinking of a sure shot method of keeping track.

                      @sachin

I guess i couldn't notice any particular person in the RVM coz of my total inexperience in night group riding.

Yeah none of us were lost, but i should also tell u at least in my case i could not at a single moment be sure whether Aditya was actually present behind me (Can blame both my focus on just following you & not losing myself and the as good as crap RVM of my bike)

I used to be very scared of riding at nites .. but for last 1 year 90% of my rides were done at nite ... so i am bit more confident now but yesterday was the safest ride i have ever done and all credit @Sachin ....

That would come with time ... just sharing my personal experience start using your RVM not just at nite but in broad day light also .... so that you know your limitations and blind sectors ... at nite try differentiating btwn the aspects of lights as all the bikes have different shape and intensity ... RVM are very important at nitetime .... so dont put urself slack on this

Yes I agree with Bright jackets which are cheaply available in Hardware shop reflective jackets are generally used by workers during night

One idea for group driving at night last rider will overtake everyone excluding Lead rider and same thing will repeat after some X distance or X amount of time. I know this could be confusing for large group but for smaller groups 8-10 riders very effective since last year I along with my other friends did successfully the same from Ganpatipule to Chiplun.

Still need Inputs from experienced riders

Totally agree man! Sachin did see to it that the whole thing went off safely.

Yeah dude, night riding even i have done many times but the thing is normally we just focus on our own ride na and RVMs mainly for lane changing. Proper group riding skills will take some time i guess. And Pulsar 220 RVMs?? i am sure you hate that part of ur 220 too.

Thanks Sushil for organizing the ride, really unfortunate that you yourself had to return from midway. Hope you are fine. Take care.

Thanks to my fellow riders Sachin, Saurabh, Binay, Aditya and Karthik... had a great time both on and off the road with you guys
