agree 100% to what @viraj_s85 has stated on his inputs.
go in for a peti-pack d390 instead of a pre-owned ride, that too, a hyosung...
    just stay away..!
Even I agree with Viraj... another query, do you guys think it would be better to wait for a couple of months so that the KTM mechanics get to do some R&D/ hands on etc. on other D390s? Plus the issues in the first production lot (if any) would be recitified, though i believe in their technology..! Moreover, I have been using a single bike since 6-7 years, I definitely need a change...

this attitude of 'being safe rather than being sorry' applies to almost all aspects in motorcycling too.
to that extent, answer to ur second query is 'yes' - let the initial euphoria pass...
read, re-read & re-re-read the ownership threads of folks who have been daring to own the bike 1st-hand, learn from their run-in, their service experience, etc. & then take the plunge.
spending money that's put together via months of blood, sweat & living-like-a-pauper takes merely a moment of dilemma to loose, but provisioning that same money all over again takes 20 times more effort.
so go-slow... not the end of the world... listen, read, learn & then invest
as for the current ride being 6~7 years old... think again... my avenger200 is abt. 6yrs old & i cannot even dream of selling her off.
my previous RE was with me for generations - a 1962 model & my previous HH Splendor was w/ me for 11 years!!!
to me, selling off a ride that has taken care of u in ur bad, not-so-bad, good days for 10K~15K is downright criminal - ghar ke bujurg logonko bhi shamshaan chod doge kya after they grow old?
unless its impossible & u REALLY cannot financially do justice to maintaining her, she stays in ur ownership!

I sold my victor after 10 yrs as she was very much on the edge of death...tried my level best to keep it all in shape the way i could. finally exchanged it only when my mechanic told me that better get something new instead of spending on victor every now and then.

Arey Shashank, Who said about selling off the oldie?? she is my faithful BAYBAY and I will be using her as usual on weekdays/ will give biking lessons to my kid ( though I am not married yet ) and moreover I usually don't rip her beyond 95-100KMPH... A new ride is needed for Fridays/ weekend trips, long rides/ fulfilling dreams etc etc... You know how often I ride to Pune

WHOA!!! the EPIC pour-damned-acid-in-every-stray-dawgs-ear-exhaust note bike...
no dog - whether he be a domestic or a stray - EVER liked that mettallic-springs-falling-from-twentieth-floor kinda exhaust EVER!
hell, when either of those mufflers defaulted, its exhaust note used to go beyond-tolerance even for us mortal humans!
even to this present day i correlate the saddle comfort of yezdi's to the rear-seating luxury of the ambassador cars...
no other bike ever gave the same level of riding comfort & so stress-free posture regardless of what road surface u rode; as what the yezdi's did.
my neighbour had a yezdi oilking [the black & chrome variation roadking's were more common] - the full maroon-red colored variation... man... have i some VERY fond memories of that machine!!!
breath a new life in urs, my friend... she's prolly one element of the great lineage of enduring, rugged & astonishingly simple-to-maintain machines!

@whymail: Sure yezdi is much more than what u defined...Earlier had a jawa which dad sold off after an accident...time passed on and got the victor. Dad never used to sit on victor and even though he sat pillion, he used to pester me that today's age bikes are plastic/ fibre and not even close to the old iron horses...blah blah...so got a yezdi classic 1984 restored for his birthday...a bit late as he has given up riding but surely he has a smile on his face every time he sees it. Spent my entire PF of old job in the yezdi.
Currently its in quoma as i was at dadar for 2 weeks and the bike was not started for that period. Will take some time for it and get it running again...

The sad part is papers...thats the reason i told Sumit that ek bike bina papers ki khadi hai...teri ek aur sahiClick image for larger version

Apples and oranges, bro. No sense in comparing our elders to machines. Machines do outlive their usefulness at some point, at which time it makes more sense to get rid of them rather than keep them and pour money into their maintenance. I'm onto my 12th bike now since 1987, yes, I am older than you and I still ride about a 90kms every day, and very few (in fact, just my current ride, the 220 and my previous one, the Unicorn) lasted more than 2 years with me. I've ridden almost all of them for an average of 45-50k kms minimum, almost every day, and so it just didn't make sense to me to keep them all. That doesn't mean that I'll be shunting off my parents and grandparents just because they've gotten old.
As I said, apples and oranges!!!
My opinion entirely and as you said, no offence meant and hope none taken Peace.....
@Sachinnair: Unlike you, I've never, ever been to Malshej, so hope I can make it this saturday

Apple's n oranges... To some extent true. I feel a bit different about my machines. Just like u I ride average 90-120kmpd. And I have tried to retain whatever bikes & cars i could, finances & wife permitting There was a time when I had 4 bikes & 2 cars and used to ride & drive all of them... one per day. After a point maintaining them became a pain and then sometime later the cash flow on them started eating up my family budget. That was the time I decided to pull the plug on some of them with a very heavy heart. Case in point being, yes no sane person will do away with senior folks at home. I tend to extend that sentiment towards my machines too. And again as we both said... No offense meant nor any taken. These thoughts are purely our own and hence may be freely expressed in perfect mutual harmony

Good point however understand current price of 2.1 L is introductory price... If I am not wrong D200 was also launched with introductory price and then they raise 20K or so... If you decide to go ahead with booking for D390 do remember following things,

You can't negotiate with Showroom for price but you can negotiate with Bank for better interest rate / Zero processing fee etc.
Ask for Zero Depreciation Insurance.. it may cost a little extra but worth it.

                                Mum-bikers, need some urgent help!

My old Pulsar 200's left horn switch conked while I was riding last weekend. Thanks to the contactless switchgear n the BCU sensor mumbo-jumbo, I'll have to shell out 670 bucks for the entire left set and the mechanic says there's no alternative.
Now this has happened due to the electric mod that Im doing to convert AC to DC current- coil is rewound, AC output removed, RR replaced by Ape RR and er, fuse has also been removed
Now I already spent 670 on the right side switchgear as it conked while the mechanic was trying to route the final connections after the mod.
The conversion is stuck in limbo as no-one seems to know for sure how to get stock switches n BCU to work after coil rewinding. So there's no point in spending again as I might go for old Pulsar contact switches and remove BCU completely soon
Is there any jugaad/quick-fix possible to get the horn working till then? Please let me know all options brothers!
