Ohh yes sir ... That surely is well taken ... the demonstration should be easily visible to all ... also such things will improve from session-to-session as and when we get feedback ... we may even stop conducting it if ppl give up interest ... so it all depends how the whole exercise turns out ... after all no1 would like to waste their 2 hours of holiday if its not adding value to them !

We are on lookout for a good venue for future sessions ... it would be great if you could suggest some ... total number of participants involved wont be more than 25 so suggest accordingly .... And regarding video, we will try to document the session (or atleast the demonstration) on video and later share it on xBhp and other public forums for those who missed it !

Rony you got me wrong, to be very honest I don't think DIY and Ride can happen on same day unless you do DIY session after Ride for eg. Keep a Ride till lonavala and have your DIY session there n back...

Group Riding session is different agenda to be taken so that more and more members can get first hand experience in group riding and experienced one can brush up on their leading and sweeping techniques

I dont see any problem in keeping them together ... DIY will be getting over by 10am or if we start by 7am then by 9am max we can wrap up ... next we can take breakfast and start the ride by 9:30 or 10 am max ... and since we are not riding beyond 150km, we can be back before sunset without making it hectic.

Can you please elaborate on points which make you think not to keep both of these together ?

As far as keeping the DIY at a remote location is concerned, that may be an issue with those who dont wish to ride and still want to attend DIY ... in that case if we keep DIY incity at early hours, those interested can attend it and ride back home ... others can continue with the breakfast and ride .... I see no big problem in this plan !

As mentioned in my earlier post following are the problems,

            1. Gathering on Time
            2. Discussions during DIY session will take time which can't be calculated
            3. Dam sure every one will want to have Breakfast by end of DIY session assuming it will be around 10+ am or so
            4. Not too sure how many will be ready to ride after that as city traffic is alive by that time unlike early mornings

We will start sharp on time. Late comers will have to bear this in mind.
              2. Discussions during DIY session will take time which can't be calculated
Unlike other G2Gs this would be a time bound session. We cannot drag it forever. So it will not extend beyond 2 hours. If we think the discussion needs more time, we can accommodate the same in next sessions.
              3. Dam sure every one will want to have Breakfast by end of DIY session assuming it will be around 10+ am or so
Yea that point is already taken care in my earlier post.
              4. Not too sure how many will be ready to ride after that as city traffic is alive by that time unlike early mornings
Being a Sunday morning, this should not be an issue at all.
Still if you think its not practical, we will try it once this time. If we do not succeed we will surely drop it.

I don't see it to be a problem if the DIY thing starts at 7a.m. Keep the ride after that and whoever is interested to go will go. DIY is more like a G2G while ride is a followup for the ones who are interested to go.

Note: What I'm mentioning here is a small casual ride after DIY G2G and not a group riding session.

Ok .... if viraj specifically wants a group riding session where group riding techniques would be brushed up, learned and tested then its better we conduct it exclusively !

And now lets concentrate more on DIY thing on the DIY thread ... people who want to ride to kelva/other nearby dest can do so after the DIY session !

PS: The current venue is questionable ... can some one put some light on it ? .. the shades are missing I guess !

                  • I just checked Sunday ride has been moved to Saturday so there is no clash of events

But we do need to plan group riding session and encourage all the new members to participate.. Rony you can draw a nice plan for that as well in coming weeks wat say??

I myself want some lessons on it bro ... It would be better is some seasoned group riders take the lead and conduct such sessions for us to follow up

On similar grounds, we are yet to have those much debated CORNERING SESSIONS ... its long due

I don't think the DIY session will draw the attention of the guys because this is something that has to be done in a staged environment. You need a quality mechanic with decent oral communication skills and you need a "bakra" bike with all of these problems created on it (broken cables, punctured tire, flat brakes, air in the hydraulics etc.). Then you get the mechanic and the bike on a circular platform and start work so the participants can walk around it and get a clear view while he explains. Standing around in a dusty field with the sun blazing down is non-ideal.

Rony - I know you've put a lot of effort behind this but if you are up for it - give me a call and we'll talk about how we can structure this, get the whole thing filmed for Rs.0 (I've got loads of HD cameras lying around) and put it up on Xbhp.
Sir, we won't be doing any thing serious.
Just some things like checks before going for a ride,
things to keep an eye on when the mechanic is servicing your bike,
things to look for during PDI
things which can be repaired but mechanics tell us to replace, etc.

If we fail to achieve the detail discussion, or the no. of members, it will be a learning curve in arranging such G2Gs.
Just the same as we planned first xBhp 2day ride, dhaba g2g, formation ride etc. . No one actually had the exact idea, eventually we became good at it.

if nobody comes, we 3-4 guys will go for a ride.

Nobody's going to handover us a check for Rs. 1/- for successfully conducting a DIY G2G.

So No worries. Let's see what happens...it's a start...

PS: this reminds when Thane gang (me, anup, bobby) planned first 2day ride to Kashid beach.
we planned so many things, that half of what we discussed was never applied.
