Satyen bhai since i have not been there I cant really comment how it is??

However people who have been there have said its a decent beach so if we are going in group together I m sure that we will enjoy...

    • ^^ sure Kelwa beach is very beatuful, but not on Sundays.

If you want a less croweded beach near mumbai, Akshi beach is the option. It's between Kashid and Alibaug. Kashid and Alibuag steal all the focus. Atmost you can find a few Taveras and may be a school bus. The famous Ram Mandir is also on the way. Nice place to get pedicure by small fishes
About food, adjecent to the beach, a lady serves nice food (veg, nonveg) in backyard of her house. non-veg is a bit expensive, similar to Khalsa rates. If not, you can always come back to Alibaug.

went there a few years ago with Orkut group and some xbhpians.

Other option with great roads and curves is Diveagar.
      Mumbai -Diveagar 179 KM

Clean and almost crowd free beach. Shrivadhan beach is 10 KM away only.

      • Guys dont forget about this http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/xbhp-off...2011-a-13.html

As MotionFreak has suggested we can get DIY session done early and then interested members can ride to Malshej Ghat (or Kelva or any other) ... Try to adjust both events for greater good

I just want to be at the DIY session and also Kelva/Malshej...
As rony suggested it would be better packing off DIY session soon and heading to other destinations...

          • No offense but i don't think DIY session and respective ride after that will work out on same day for following reasons,

            1. Gathering on Time
            2. Discussions during DIY session
            3. Dam sure every one will want to have Breakfast by end of DIY session assuming it will be around 10 am or so
            4. Not too sure how many will be ready to ride after that
I would suggest that pick a location within 120-150 kms (Round Trip) range from city so that everyone can enjoy small Sunday Ride as well as DIY session

            • +1 to Viraj
The road to malshej is ****ed up. It is not as smooth as it was before and Malshej is no fun without the monsoon waterfalls.

              • I might sound little off the topic here but I guess we should plan group riding session

I suggest this as I have seen many new members on forum who are new to biking or group riding and need knowledge / practice

This will help new guys to gain experience in formation / group riding and experienced riders to become good leaders and sweepers for group rides

                  About Kelva beach

Kelve or Kelva beach is the ideal weekend destination for local backpacking for Mumbaities and other travelers looking at a break from the jostles of a fast paced city life. Here at Kelve you can treat yourself to a long stretch of beach lined up against the Arabian Sea. In all it is a beautiful yet accessible place.

Had been to Kelwa ***** few weeks back on a weekend.

Highway Roads till Kelva turn is in pretty good shape but one you take a left turn to kelva, get ready for a long 32 kms essel world ride. 80 % Roads are completely screwed up. And trust me guys you really dont want to ride fast. You would see people crossing the road from here and there. In the BEACH, you will only find school kids making some shitty castles and those kids are spread all over the beach as its picnic season. One kid was hit by a football ( i was the culprit.) Thank god teachers didnt see it.

People who have nothing to do can check my album for pics..

                  • A suggestion from my side...if I may

I don't think the DIY session will draw the attention of the guys because this is something that has to be done in a staged environment. You need a quality mechanic with decent oral communication skills and you need a "bakra" bike with all of these problems created on it (broken cables, punctured tire, flat brakes, air in the hydraulics etc.). Then you get the mechanic and the bike on a circular platform and start work so the participants can walk around it and get a clear view while he explains. Standing around in a dusty field with the sun blazing down is non-ideal.

Rony - I know you've put a lot of effort behind this but if you are up for it - give me a call and we'll talk about how we can structure this, get the whole thing filmed for Rs.0 (I've got loads of HD cameras lying around) and put it up on Xbhp.

Your stay at this beach is a good time to connect with your spiritual self. The Sitladevi temple is a Hindu shrine. It is said that the temple marks the abode of Lord Ram’s twins Luv and Kush during Sita’s second exile. The place also homes two notable forts at the two ends of the Kelve Beach; one at the southern end and the other, a comparatively smaller one, at the northern end.

                      What do we carry?

Carry your beach clothes, camera to snap some breathtaking landscapes, two towels (Because no matter how hard you try, you’re bound to catch all the sand), sun screen and our glares.

I have zero idea about any of the beaches in and around city so wherever you guys are going I'm ok with that.

Just a suggestion how is Bordi beach? That's also not that far away

The one suggested by Motionfreak is also nice. Also we can go to Nayagaon beach near Alibaug, its clean and not crowded.

                      • That s a good suggestion... Me too thinks that the DIY will have a lot of interested xbhpians coming for it.. One mechanic, one bike and 30 something people standing around will be difficult... Instead, a video will be better... For the main reason that the action can be captured in much better detail and it is replayable, as a reference when we need to get our hands dirty.

Since it is a HD camera which is going to do the work, quality of the video can be assured.

Viraj you said it ! ..... same thing is going in my mind too .... If we could plan a small group ride to some nearby place (100 to 150km) radius after the DIY breakfast, it will be a good experience for first timers as well as non-seasoned riders to be a part of group riding and experience the fun involved in it

Sir, I dont know if you are following the http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/xbhp-off...eb-2011-a.html thread but as mentioned there, the motive behind this initiative is to have multiple sessions on DIY where the biker brotherhood can G2G to discuss their common D2D problem, to help noob bikers to know their bikes, some hands on sessions on their bike, to know how to be prepared for long tours, precautions to take, etc.

So its not a mere 1 time meet where everything has to be covered in 1 day. The idea you suggested would compliment this exercise but not replace it as there is no better way to pass knowledge as compared to F2F interaction where in real time ppl can ask doubts and ask to even redo the act. The meet would not last more than 2 hours as we will try to cover only selected topics each time and more emphasis would be given on healthy discussion related to those topics rather than generalizing it.

As bikers having bike of multiple make would be participating, we may have to repeat the same procedure (or atleast point out the difference) specific to their make.

I dont expect the same guy to teach everytime and same public to attend. Depending on topics listed ppl can choose which session to attend. As its hardly a meet for 2 hours, I dont think conducting such session bi-monthly (or quarterly) would be that big an issue.

Regarding mechanic, we have already had a talk with Reddy who is ready to conduct a workshop for us but only after 2-3 months when his shop renovation is complete. Before that we can have this 6th Feb, 2011 session to discuss on general topics and atleast get the exercise started !

The venue may change depending on availability and past experience.

@ALL ... I hope I have made my point clear. Please be a part of the DIY thread where these discussions are going on and give your valuable inputs to make it better.

                              • @Rony - it is a good initiative. I suggest you organize for a circular dias / platform where the mech works on the bikes so people can still stand around and get a good view. This is the point I was trying to make.
