  • Re: The Official Mumbai Offline Meet(G2G) Thread

OK, so we did almost 430-440KM starting from their respective house, meeting up at MacDonalds Kalamboli, spending some good time at Shrivardhan and ending the ride at Vashi.

    Route: Panvel-> khalapur-> Pali-> Mangaon ( via NH17) -> Morba-> Shrivardhan.

Road conditions:- NH4 till Khalapur is sweet. Khalapur to Adlabs Imagica is good with speedbreakers in between. Imagica to Pali is an average two lane road with some rough patches, potholes and cows/ dogs sitting here and there. Pali junction ( where we hit NH17) to Mangaon is OK OK types. NH17 is under construction so expect vehicles coming from the wrong side. This road has a couple of diversions, slow moving trucks overtaking each other at a difference of 1 Km/hr. As per @PRANAV D, "you need good amount of patience and much anticipation is needed while riding on NH17."

From Mangaon Bus stand you need to take a right and continue towards Shrivardhan. The sign boards are present on this road so you'll not have any confusion with directions. This road towards Shrivardhan is OK but not so OK kinda road. This is a twisty road but the corners are low speed types. You can see potholes at exit/ Apex/ entry, everywhere. I hated this stretch because this made us tired..

After reaching S.vardhan, we went to the beach and this is what we did there: (See the pics ; pic courtesy @RideHard).

After having lunch at one of the hotel, some of us went riding on the beach to a point where Seagulls could be seen, others chose to have 'Nariyal Paani'.

We left S.Vardhan at 4.30PM, keeping in mind that NH17 needs to be crossed before it gets dark. We reached Vashi at around 9.15- 9.30PM, did goodbyes and left for our home.

This was my first G2G ride with XBHP members (read friends now)..

Well being of the punctual kind, I was at the meeting point, McDonalds, Kalamboli at 7:00 a.m. sharp but was alone there so thought of a quick bite and then fellow riders started coming in, also got to know that there were few cancellations due to unavoidable circumstances and we were total of 8 riders and a special mention to Sagar as he came just to see us off due his scheduled classes, kudos to the spirit.

The bikes - Ninja 300, Ninja 250, 2 Honda CBR 250, Pulsar 180, Pulsar 200 NS, CBZ and my TB 350..

Pranav on his N300 (beautiful bike) lead the way throughout NH4, smooth roads, awesome ride and we were at the Khalapur junction in a quick time (with few stops, a torn jeans - not mine, riders gone ahead for the sheer pleasure of NH4 and retracking)

Next was to ride till Adlabs Imagica as Sanchit from Pune was joining us from there. And there Sanchit with his awesome Duke waiting for us..

There came a surprise that among the lot, the responsibility of leading till the NH17 (through Khopoli Pali road) was bestowed on me with the humble speeds of my TB350 but I did not disappoint as mentioned by the fellow riders.

We reached NH17, and as mentioned by Apratim, with the widening of the road going on, the traffic, trucks, passenger ferrying Sumo, Qualis, Trax kinds, specially the Auto Rickshaw, and reckless driving and overtaking by all this is a tough stretch with lots of anticipation and patience required. Our next destination was Mangaon.

Again a long break, with all getting there, fueling and bakar..

Road from there till Morba is in good condition and then the ghat where you have to anticipate the potholes on each corner, road and everywhere but was a scenic ride till Shrivardhan (re-tracking by few, regrouping again)

Rode to the beach, tried TB350 on the beach sand, fun but not easy. Fellow bikers helped each other to get out loose sand and back on rideable portions on the beach.

Went back to city, had lunch, rode back to beach, again riding on the beach where few luck ones could make it to the point where the Seagulls in huge numbers can be spotted, few were sane not to venture in to the loose sand again and Me, trying halfway to reach, getting stuck and helped by Rajeev to turn back and join the Nariyal Paani gang.

Started back around 4:30, the Duke and the P200NS bid as farewell for their journey to Pune and now 7 of us riding back to Mumbai on the same route we took in the morning.

Same story on NH17, rode back on Khopoli Pali road in the dark, NH4 was fun as usual and ended the ride on Palm Beach road around 9:15.

Amazing ride, great respect for fellow riders, mix of all kinds of roads and a great Sunday spent.

I hope I got it all right, friends, please correct/add if I missed anything and please post more pics from the ride..

Yes, this is the first time I have seen a TB350 maintaining 100-110Kmph... oh, and Ameya's CBZ.. !!! I really have to say now that machines doesn't matter. It's the rider who matters..!!

Imagine what if you both buy SBKs..??

@ parimal- when ever you are going for an xbhp ride we normally don't reach on time due to people travelling from different places...I have done my rides but never left or reached on time...except for few rides...

But always the rides have been exceptional...

Not a single TB350 photo :-( And yes, can personally vouch that TB350 can do 110! Although, NH8 is the better road to prove that claim! (Or am only experienced enough to prove it on NH8 )
Well on roads like NH4 and NH8, TB350 will do 100 - 110 kmph without sweat, but the fun is to do it on roads like Khopoli Pali road with mild twisties. I personally prefer cruising at 80-90 kmph continuously and its amazingly comfortable at these cruising speeds. The bike has its limitations but covers it up beautifully with the advantages like the most comfortable riding position and seats, great range due to its big tank & decent mileage and awesome space for a tank bag, saddle bag etc.

                Hello Friends!
Its my first post in this thread!
Well..hii @Parimal Maheshwari Good to see elders from our caste out here..:P
BTW the whole xbhp group people have same thinking & we whine for the same thing..i.e. the sheer pleasure from riding our bikes on open stretches of concrete path to satisfy the adventure freak in ouselves..this is our craving for experiencing some adrenaline rush..and this machine does let us satisfy that craving..

Well I stay in Borivali (would be happy to know that there are others out here from nearby localities) and havent gone on such trips before..Well my parents are too afraid..they aint afraid cause i will catch up some bad habits but cause they think its very risky..Some excerpts from what my dad said me a couple of years back:

"Dad:Beta, good you have learnt to ride bike..but remember we took this bike for city riding only..dont go on highways! Not even on western express highway! Its very risky..
Me (poker face): The Western express highway is for city rides only!!
Dad:No son, then dont use that also."

Well this attitude of my Dad was cause one of my elder brothers friend was killed in an accident on the Western express highway..I do respect my Dads concern..but then theres nothing safe in this world..

Staying at home aint safe..If a building aint destroyed due to an earthquake then it is destroyed in a plane crash! #Remembering9/11
Travelling in a train aint safe..If you feel secure from an accident sitting inside the train compartment, then train bombings will make sure you aint spared! #Remembering11/7
Walking in public areas aint safe..Even if you survive the threats that life offers every time, a terrorists bullet will find a way to breach through your defenses! #Remembering26/11
This is just to name a few..

For this, You cant kill your craving, you cant kill your passion, there is no alternative to this..Biking is fun, Biking is awesome, Biking is what makes you write so much, even when you have loads of file pending at your table!

And Ahhh I feel so lively now; in this dull, unispiring, monotonous environment..

Well wrong arguments that no place is safe if you want to convince your parents though, informing them that you would ride safe, wear proper gears and ride responsibly would cut it IMO.

Ahh..when I said said elders from our 'caste'..I actually meant that..Elders was not point of focus..Caste was

I agree that its a wrong argument but what can one say when parents are like 'tumhari jawani fut rahi hai..tumhara garam khaulta khoon hai..tum tarike se chala hi nahi sakte'

Well no issues on that front though..I have got a lot of years ahead of me..I am just 20 yet!
As much as I want to make these kinds of trip, I also dont want my parents afraid..I will do it when they will feel I am mature enough..
Though I do hope that this feeling comes to them soon!
