Resolving Issues........

A gravely unfortunate incident had triggered a cascade of events that had lead to some deep misunderstandings which resulted in a fall out among the biking members of perhaps the biggest biking community in Kolkata and now this thread is seeing lesser and lesser posts everyday because of bitter experiences.

However, its time that we resolve our differences :
Mandeep,Sourav and Myself paid a visit to the mourning family of our deceased brother Jai Shah on Saturday..........and things became clearer.

Bikemanic was trying to imply what Jai's family truly felt,and in that light I sincerely apologise for the incidents that took place on the forum and for my awkward response to his feelings.

The main thing was,after the accident,we,the people who last rode with Jai was devastated and confused and was full of wrong notions about how his family would perceive us,which created a communication gap between us and Jai's family.On the other hand Bikemanic was the only person who was in touch with the family..........hence the family thought that we were running away from something,because it seemed strange to them that why we didn't communicate.

I for my part was unknown to any contact numbers which would have given me access to Jai's own family members.........I kept getting news from various friends.The only number I had was of Jai's personal mobile and it was with his Wife, but talking to her about this disaster wont have been feasible for me,at that time.

This huge communication difference left Jai's family unknown to the fact that how he had actually succumbed to his fate..........and this rose their anxiety to a level which was communicated by Bikemanic's words.

So,I have came to the conclusion that Bikemanic had no personal part to play in this,he just tried to communicate the gravity of the situation to us.
I would like to apologize for my awkward response to his comments.

It so happened that when Jai's mother communicated me,I got on the plan to visit Jai's house as promised and to take people who were with Jai on that fateful night.But since everyone is into a job and work,so we waited for a nearest possible holiday to turn up and we chose 2nd October,Gandhi Jayanti.

Now having visited his family,I feel the pain,the regret, that the family is going through.I now have Rohit's(Jai's brother) number and in any case,he can communicate me whenever needed and I would be able to communicate him if need be.

So, we all had our own share of unitended flaws,devastation and sense of loss on our young minds might not have had us think things straight.

Hence it remains my earnest request to forgive ourselves of all the differences that weren't meant to be there and lets come together to offer our prayers to Jai and have our protest on the condition of roads and traffic which has risked and taken the life away of so many People and had left their near and dear ones all empty and void in this cruel wide world.

I really intrigues me when freak accidents causes unaccountable disasters.
Few examples of what kind of roads we ride on:
1.Tata Sumo carrying five carrying back people from their job,hit by a Trailer at toll gates on the Vidyasagar setu was mangled.......killing all the five people in it.
2.Ford Ikon loses control over the cobbled roads of Vidyasagar setu and causes loss of all lives in it by hitting the divider really hard.
3.Biker loses control on EM bypass hit by a speeding vehicle from back,succumbs to his injuries at Ruby hospital.
4.Biker crashes in order to save a mentally disabled woman crossing the road all of a sudden,only to be run down by a speeding vehicle at his back.
All these people,names unknown,only found on newspapers as news,they are not a part of Xbhp or its Biking community but still they succumb to their fates only for being on road,either on their way to work or returning home.

There are a lot of questions,
1.Why would roads which experience fast traffic,would peel away after a season of showers,why aren't they constructed out of cement ???
2.Why aren't there pedestrian limiting dividers on roads like EM bypass and even NHs and SHs ???We will always find someone or the other crossing the roads even after seeing the speeding traffic...........!!!!!
3.Why aren't there speed checks and speed ticketing to control the way vehicles travel on various roads????
4.Why aren't the rules of lanes are followed on NH ???? We find slow trucks in the fast lane and fast bikes in the slow lane !!!!! It makes riding a lot risky.
5.Why aren't there Police Patrol on the NH to check speeds of vehicles in various lanes and while approaching Toll booth ???
6.Why aren't the faulty street lights replaced quick in High speed and accident prone zones ????

But whenever we go to buy a vehicle,two wheeler or four wheeler,we pay road tax.We pay a tax to live in a metropolitan,we pay income tax and sales tax and VAT on our earnings and purchases and lifestyles that are made on our hard work.We pay all kinds of revenues for our dear Nation to be established.......but would asking a bit of security on our journeys would be asking too much ?????

All of us,leave our house with one question in mind..................."would I return safely again"

Bikers let us think what we are risking,is it really worth ??? or can things be made better ............Let us unite in protest..........lets us think.......and keep thinking How and when.........if we remain to the belief that biking means skills and a lot of thrills...........let us be aware of the fact that is it really worth it ????? or Something can be done about it...............

P.S. lets not bend and twist and start a war of words again,its time, that we start thinking.

All of us,leave our house with one question in mind..................."would I return safely again".

Now, the thing is, unless we are educating ourselves and the other fellows on the roads to maintain the traffic rules and safe riding/driving techniques, we would not be able to save the lives on the roads, be the person in his/her car or bike or bicycle or a mere pedestrian.
Now, what we can do? Friends, we can really make some difference here. But, how we can do? ...... I don't know exactly but let me think on that issue. But, take my word, I am not going to let the disaster happen again with anybody. Atleast I can try for that.

Guys Jai for all his life preached safety..I only knew him for say 30 mins but what i learnt from his family and friends is he wanted everyone to be safe, he inspired other guys for road manners and sensible riding..the people who had met him where lucky enough to be in his company..he was doing some great service to the people, to the country..i dont know what to say but i think one line that Jai's mom said says everything about the man he was..she said " JAI WAS A HERO"...but guys we should make an effort so that more and more people come to know Who Jai was..What was his dream..we can publish something about Jai and circulate it, we can have a article on the paper..Jai will be an inspiration to the youth..
