Rains might/might not happen. It cannot be predicted for sure, but yes the possibility of rains is high considering the season we are going in. Last time also the possibility of rains was this high, it was a dry spell throughout the ride.

But how is specs going to affect your riding in rains? Your visor will be down as it is I suppose!

Well the problem comes when the water droplets accumulate on the visor and secondly with the wet visor the light from the oncoming traffic is a big hell!!!

Certainly car has several advantages over the two wheels; I sincerely wish a wiper in addition

light scatters twice for us... once on the visor and again on the spectacles.. hence oncoming vehicles look like UFO 's :P

fog collects inside the visor..we open it up to allow some air to clear it.. we end up with water droplets on spectacles. vision is completely smudged..

        • Do you guys want to ride @ Night?

There's hardly any night riding happening on this trip, except on the return leg probably.

            • Woah! Night riding is not my cup of tea. The Insects are a huge pain !

This means that the visor goes down and if it starts raining its going to be mayhem guys... we'll lose on time if we stop and we lose our eyesight (Temporarily) if we keep riding

On the other hand, daytime guarantees full concentration and a (mostly) Insect free ride. Not to mention protection from a few really dumb pedestrians.

              Just my 2 cents

Exactly Man...Night ride in that 4 lane road is always fun
If it rains, it adds even more
The water droplets...the Insect pasted in Visor...the breeze that comes each time u open ur visor, cruising arnd 70-80..stopping in between for a smoke... What else a biker want

                • @Raghav: Agreed! But we cannot start at 6 am for this (or 7 am for that matter). The Chennai gang will have about 45-60 minutes of riding in the dark on the onward journey. We expect to start by 04:20am latest. And by 5:15am, it will be dawn. And yes, we will have our share of insects too (if it doesn't rain).

Riding in a group, we are prone to be behind the schedule always.

On the return leg, we have to ride a bit more in the dark. It would become dusk by the time we reach Vellore/Ranipet.

I love night ride as long as it is dry! Night ride in rain would reduce my speed to around 45-50 and if there are blaring high beams from the opposite direction then even down to 30!!!

                    • Is it raining in Chennai?

The Kerala gang will have most of the rain, followed by Bangalore and the least rains I guess will be seen by the Chennai gang!

U shud be here right now to believe how Chennai is!!!

I think we arte over-reacting to the whole night riding idea. With 35+ bikers with HID's, halogens and what not on a 4-lane highway, u will get enough space and enough illumination. And moreover, its only for a measly 1 hour on Sat morning and another 2 hours at the max on Sunday. Am sure with lot of night riding experienced people, newbies will not have lot of issues!

You missed last time. One HID bike and 8-10 other bikes surrounding it like bees in attack mode. Doing 100-120 kmph all together, ripping apart the entire traffic. Ah! Some ride that was.

Anyways, on these highways as long you are using your head night/day/rain whatever does not matter.

Any idea what kind of music system is being arranged by hotel people ?
