I have done many BLR-CHN and BLR-CBE trips both day and night ride, I was never stopped during day time by the Highway patrol cops, however, was asked to pullover many a times during night (cops flashing the LED falshlights and signalling you to stop )

and it happens that they let me go off with a formal documents check and questions like where to where? why bike and not bus or train? Hows ur gears diff from other normal jackets and all?

I use this oppurtunity to take my butt break during such checks, this helps me keep up to my schedule....

Guess, all pillions are aware that xbhp requires all riders to put on atleast basic protective gear and LID is a MUST...

      • Now that someone has mentioned about cops, do anyone think it will be better if we give the Yercaud police a heads up? I mean, they should not panic and come down on us as if we are aliens or terrorists!

We are not there to create any kind of trouble or be a nuisance for the locals and visitors. It is a hill station (read tourist spot) and that shouldn't be an issue (my view). The only thing I am concerned is that we don't create any kind of traffic jams - be it in Yercaud, Salem or other passing-by towns and villages. As long as we maintain discipline on the road and respect other road users, everyone will appreciate and respect us.

Anyone else with the same view as Lijo? I can give a heads-up to the hotel folks and then to the local cops, if need be.

          • ^^As said earlier by Minus-Zer-0, if we have all the necessary vehicle papers, it should not be an issue unless if we leap the traffic rules.

            • @Kirosh, I find TN police is far better compared to KL police in terms of understanding public. So don't take pains Kirosh.
@Lijo - We can handle things; absolutely no issues.

              PS - Well, I didn't mean this "under"standing

A couple of months back when I rode down to Yercaud there was a cop on the twisties who was stopping vehicles and entering the details in a book. Friendly sort, it did help that I could speak fluent Tamil. Guess they have started doing this recently, so it probably would be better if we give the cops a heads up.

There's hardly any night riding happening on this trip, except on the return leg probably.
One thing I sincrely request not to resort to. Please no night riding I just cannot see the road when there is traffic from the opposite end.

The Chennai gang will have about 45-60 minutes of riding in the dark on the onward journey. We expect to start by 04:20am latest. And by 5:15am, it will be dawn. And yes, we will have our share of insects too (if it doesn't rain).

Riding in a group, we are prone to be behind the schedule always.

On the return leg, we have to ride a bit more in the dark. It would become dusk by the time we reach Vellore/Ranipet.
Its fine when we are heading to yercaud but what about return leg? how early are we gonna start?

                              • @ aargee: Im sorry man. but in my current situation, i cant afford to take chances. I have no issues riding but there are a lot of variables i have to consider mate. this has nothing to do with chickening out or being scared. I lost those when i picked up my first 2 stroke
