      • Chilly Ride to Gingee :-D

Received lot of messages on Wednesday and in that one of them from Nishant stating "any Ride plans for this weekend?" i saw it late in the night thought of replying the next day - As usual in the morning was hurrying up to office and forgot to call - held up with work so no call made to him -- seems like Nishant wanted to ride badly so he gave a call on Thursday evening to check out again which was a good thing he did I said to him am game and for a half-day ride and we finalized that we ride to Gingee Fort (approx 124kms from Chennai) expecting to return back by afternoon. Informed him am out of internet connectivity - so asked him to post of the forum so that any one interested to ride can join. After that I got a call from Nishant on friday evening for the time to start - we fixed up 5.30am to start as we know it might be late
Friday 11pm reached home from work and messaged Nishant to give me a Wake-up call when is awake to be on double alarm for me . Cleaned my FZ and made sure its ready for the ride. Saturday 5am Was ready to roll and meet up Nishant near BP petrol pump but it was closed so we had a short detour and so it was extra 10 mins and we reached late to Meeting point - Perungalathur amongst heavy traffic. To my surprise the group was big enough with Bharath, Sriram, Avinash, Raj and Rakesh, then Nishant informed that Sunny is also coming and is waiting near Cresent College. Sriram with a quick brief on the group to the newbies Raj and Rakesh - we were set to go - caught up with Sunny and some high-fiv's and fag - we were ready to roll amongst the heavy traffic as being the pongal weekend all were heading out of chennai. Weather was chill enough to prick deep into your bones and the traffic to snarl you to a halt. As we were on bikes - we have cushion to squeeze through the traffic and after crossing chengalpet toll we had some more space to ride in the NH. Brat and Sunny left us behind and we were cruising at a comfortable speeds evading through the traffic-fest NH with a leak break. Sunny promptly stopped us for a Breakfast stop and we just had some food to fill our tummies as the breakfast was average. Couple of clicks of us and the bikes - we left the hotel with the onlookers amusement.

We took the right from Tindivanam and the SH welcomed with the Railway crossing and luckily it was only for couple of minutes and the Gates were open. We crwaled with our bikes in the narrow roads and managed to cross the town with guidance of the locals. As i was riding in the last misjudged the numbers of riders ahead of me - was thinking still sriram is behind me. so waited for some time and later gave a second thought that i must have missed him - as mentioned i had missed him to count so all others were waiting for me to come after a distance. We started our ride back on the broken SH road with terrifying oncoming buses gave us a hard time and Sunny spotted a right place for photos and a butt-break - a much needed one on this SH's. After some photos we decided tostop next only at the Gingee fort and the next 10kms to gingee we took a time to reach there with the traffic and parked our bikes under shade.

While others were gearing down Sriram and me went to check for any other place to relax - but the place we went was a temple and wasn't safe enough to park the bike so returned back the Raja fort parking. Me, Nishant decided to trek up the Rani fort which seemed smaller than the Raja fort and Raj, Rakesh and Avinash said they will join us - while Sunny, Sriram and Bharath decided to relax down. They tried their best convince us not to trek but we stood on our decision :-) and went on for our trek. After getting the tickets we gave look back for the trio but they were long way back so we started our trek up - to put it short we managed to trek up and clicks some awesome pictures and gazed at the amazing views and came down :-) with the trio following us the same way.

Start of the Trek up Rani's Fort

Different views which are captured while going up the fort

Nishant coming up - u can see the strain :-)

        Biker

        Finally reached the Top

        A Self timed one

Second group Raj and Rakesh coming up

Once back to the ground, took the opposite road to the Rani fort - seemed like a old chamber belonging to the ruins of the fort - couldn't get in clear what the place was about - took couple of snaps and returned back the parking after clicking the neatly Siva Temple enroute. soon we all were joined by the trio - as Sunny was testing the R15 which was punny when he sat on it . After a few light moments we started our ride back to chennai. Took a break once we reached the NH and gulped down some Tea/coffee - and took some snaps before starting our ride. From here on everyone was on thier heels Rode superb and i bid good-bye to Raj, Rajesh, Sriram whom i caught up near tambaram and reached home in next 15min. Was quiet a refreshing ride and good to know some more minds sharing the same passion

        Raja Fort at a distance

I think i clicked the Siva Temple - which was neatly maintained

        A Lighter moment

        Starting back home

Will Ride back to Gingee again to conquer the Raja's Fort for sure

                            • Hi Guys, I coming to Chennai for CSS tomorrow and I need some information.
                              1. What are the possible means of transport from the Chennai airport to the track?
                              2. How far is the track from the airport?
                              3. I should be landing by 3:30 PM..how much time would it take for that distance considering that I would start off immediately?
                              4. Should I book some taxi service OR are there options available at the airport?

Would appreciate any information on this! thanks!

The track is around 20kms from the airport and on the Chennai Blore highway. Best to take a call taxi or a cab to the track. It would take at least an hour to reach the highway from the airport and from there another 30-45 mins to get to the track. Account for 2hrs at the least considering you might hit traffic enroute in the city.

You can avail cab services like Easy Call taxi or Fast Track radio taxi etc. Bargain on the fare if they refuse to ply using the fare meter.
