ooty Trip Plan..

Sorry To post this once again, This is my final plan so please guide me

Date: MARCH 1 To March 4

DAY 1:Start at 4.30am From urapakkam -- around 5.30Pm we may Reach metupalayam.

Stay: Tell me the name of the hotel, Rajiv suggested not to go for blackthunder resort it is way expensive and not worth it.
so guide me regarding the stay.

Day 2:Going For Blackthunder return back to same Hotel for Night stay.

Day 3:start around 5am from metupalayam -- going to ooty and visit in and around ooty places as suggested by Ananth

[ What about Mudumalai Forest? Is it possible to cover on Day 3 ? ]

Night stay at ooty resort [ Name of the hotel and contact no, sorry ananth lost the contact no which you gave me before ]

Day 4:start around 6am and reach chennai around 6pm

This is my final plan.

Please guide me regarding the hotel's at mettupalayam and ooty [ Contact no]
Any others things if I missed let me know

We totally 5 members 2 - Pulsar 220, 1- Zmr, 1-Fazer, 1-Thunder bird.

Apart from service and checkup is there any other precautionary steps that needs to be taken ?

Breakfast in / around Trichy - 30 minutes

2 hours for Trichy - Madurai

Lunch in / around Madurai - 1 hour

Well...I think either the B'Fast at Trichy or Lunch @ Madurai is only possible!!!
Reason? - Start by 5AM from Chennai, reach Trichy by 10:00 AM. B'Fast at 10:00 AM??? If we start by 3:00 AM, reach Trichy by 8:00 AM; as you said Trichy-Madurai is only 2 hours, in that way, Lunch at 11:30 AM???

IMHO, leave Chennai by 4:30/5:00 AM, reach Ulundurpet by 7:00/7:30 AM (approx 200 Kms), refuel at BPCL & have B'Fast at A2B & then its quite possible to have lunch at Madurai by 1:00 PM.

Please raise your voice & convey if you are feeling it may push your riding skills - Your opinion matters NOW, Than while being on the road

Personally this is what I prefer...
Take Sri's suggestion on the forward leg; use the 2 days for hanging around the places around Kutralam; prefer coming via Tenkasi-Tirunelveli-Madurai-Trichy as its the fastest route to come back, like pratheep says. Just that, there's no Virudhunagar.

Nice to see things are getting heated up with discussions. As the route suggested by Pratheep, we end up spending less time travelling on state highway and thus making a quick run, Great suggestion there Pratheep - Do one more thing, just join the ride as I already know you are permanently in Chennai now. I think spliting the whole groups in 2 is good idea, this is what going to happen anyways, isn't it ? . Lets discuss that as we go ahead with the trip blue print in making.

couple of suggestions and questions

1. why do you want to waste one day in black thunder(theme parks are the same and you will find a dime and a dozen of them in chennai)

Day 1 - why stay in metupalayam when ooty is just a couple of hrs away - I will suggest that you guys head to ooty (start early and it should be possible)

Day 2 - spend time exploring ooty and around 2 in the afternoon take the 36 hairpin bends to reach masinagudi and do the evening safari at mudhumalai.

get back to masinagud and stay there for the night(ensure that you hire a jeep for a night safari when you stay here)

Day 3 - head back to ooty and roam around and explore!

Day 4 ride back home( via kothagiri)

just my 2 cents - touring to me is all about exploring nature - it is different for different people so pick your choice

Mudumalai is doable on Day 3. Start early and you can cover Mudumalai and Bandipur. Since night stay is at Ooty, you can try for evening safari in Mudumalai or Bandipur.

Hi steve, no the reason behind we guys still love to go theme parks and enjoy Heee, Especially Blackthunder is way good when you compare to other theme-parks in south india.

This is because all are newbies except myself when comes to long ride so I don't wanna push others, But even I have second thought whether to push till ooty but concern about others.

Masinagudi-- Never strikes my mind just 24km from ooty. wow and what are all I can expect from there I mean any kinda good place to visit.

Mudhumalai forest can we ride with our bikes ? I mean do we need to ask permission for that or not allowed

regardgin mudhumalai - yes bikes are allowed inside the forest and ride is memerising! you should watch out for elephants close to the road. no permission required!

regarding the place - it is a forest and I'm not sure if that is your cup of tea

a Tip from someone who has done some touring! - never ask for places to see when you ride - explore and find your own places!

regarding day 1 - if almost all of you who have never done a 500km ride, even metupalayam can be a challange! ride away and try to cover as many kms as possible without pushing yourselves.

remember one thing - taking a group of riders without touring experience directly on a long ride is not advisable (you start with smaller rides - 500km rides) and then progress to bigger rides. I'm not sure about the guys who are riding, just ensure people are not pushing themselves to prove a point of show they can - after all there can be always another ride :0

No! We 'd be there at the Boat house when you come from Chennai. Perhaps, we shall ride back to Pondy 15-30 seconds behind your tail-gunner. However, it's still under tentative.
