Can you be more specific? It would help others.

From chengalpattu, It is a 4 lane 2 way road till the point where we take the diversion to pondicherry, i.e leaving NH45 and taking the NH 66 route. This diversion comes to the left just before the bypass highway to tindivanam. A big green direction board which one cannot miss is set up to indicate the direction to pondicherry(left) and madurai(straight). Once we take the turn to enter NH66 (for detailed info, one can refer google maps) - It is a 4 lane 2 way for some distance and then on - 2 lane 2 way till we reach Pondicherry(around 20 kms to pondicherry) (I am not sure if the lanes decrease but driving in this stretch gives me a feeling that i have lesser width compared to the just covered NH66 stretch). please correct me if i am wrong.

Wow. Nice to see such response. All advice noted. Want to take the Sea side route for its scenic beauty but only if its during daylight. If not then will probably stat for the night at Chennai and then leave early morning. Will see how it goes. Have Kept a couple of days buffer in this entire ride. But this is my chance to meet fellow Xbhpians down south and would not want to miss this golden opportunity.

Don't have any experience with them, but I know the owner is a real passionate biker & Bulleteer; I guess they wouldn't provide a shoddy service. May be you want to try with them before venturing out to third parties.
