@shv18 What a total misunderstanding, we were not talking about modding R15 and I ain't no hot rodder myself(my bike is almost bone stock, I have mentioned this before, urgh). I was just telling that if someone were to go for aftermarket exhausts, full system is better than slip ons. That's that. I mentioned R15 just as a reference that there are people who do ridiculous mods that maybe too overkill for a 150cc bike, I mean a freaking steering damper for an R15? Seriously?

Well my friend,
even then the reality still remains the same. If one does want to go for performance mods like exhaust, BB kit and whichever options, one will have to :

a) Alter the other properties of the engine functioning.
b) Spend money and try and justify the amount spent in their head for the same.

My stint with hot roding gave me a bill of 40,000 bucks, roughly equating to Rs. 10,000 per bhp achieved and in the end gave me a stinker. But yet allowed me to share my perspective and understanding of the subject better. For any rider in this group planning to pursue the same should understand the basics first before jumping into the pit without realising the repercussions that's all.

Your suggestion for going for Full exhaust system Vs Slip ons VS the BHP gained Vs the changes needed to achieve the same reliably Vs the cost per bhp is not clear. just pointing out mate.

[MENTION=32641]shv18[/MENTION] Well all I meant to say was this(and I said it under the presumption that he is willing to do all the necessary changes to get a full system if he wants to go for it), if he wants a better performance from exhaust, full system is better than slip on. If he is worried about making changes, or the cost, or the effort, he should just stay away from such mods and stick to stock, or if he wants to get an aftermarket exhaust simply for the better note than that of stock, he can go get a slip on. He can do whatever he wants.

From what I know, The Yamaha R15 is a scooter engine over bored ...It is my opinion that trying to extract any more juice out of it, will result in quicker death of the engine...

That's why I'm keeping mine stock. No plans to do performance mods.

I understand that nothing was intended to you but the discussion between you and Praveen Jones on exhaust system. I guess, you both first need to ride the bikes for atleast couple of years to know sink in your knowledge on stock set up before you want some additives added to your motor. The technical arena is very interesting and more you read the more you get to know.

Keep your machine stock as the bike manufacturer has already zeroed the best possible set up for street eligible usage. Still not adequate? then go for bigger bike as you already aware.

nice g2g, thx for coming. We should meet up like this whenever possible. As for the ride plans, do check this thread from time to time. We will put up any plans for rides here.

We will have an official meet and Ride once in every month hereafter, date will be fixed one week before.

About ride, anyone can take initiatives....decide the destination, plan the routes and date then post it, we will join you!!
