Well like, some people mod their bikes out of sheer passion, not just for the aesthetics or small bumps in performance.
Anyway, so far I guess these guys are in for the meet - harishkumarko, harikishen, hariharan.
EDIT: praveen jones I'm not sure whether its available here in India, but revzilla sells them, but its quite expensive though, not to forget the ridiculous shipping charges.

There is no replacement for Displacement.....Still if members are interested for mods, Motozone Pune/Bombay seem to be offering reliable mods....whatever they fitted on @shv18's bike worked well till it was taken out...Interested members can get in touch with Shv18 for further info...
They have Akra,Leo and Yoshi exhausts.

Sir, Shv18 was lucky to have Motozone within his reach(Pune/Mumbai).

Again, it takes a whole understanding of mechanism before anyone could take a plunge into performance mod and what is expected out it.

Agreed...Which is why I said No replacement for Displacement ie., move up to stock higher cc bike to have peace of mind...Since there were many discussions on the Exhaust ,I thought I could help...

Some people put on such mods on their bike simply because they are not satisfied with the stock setup. I have seen guys putting up things like a steering damper, putting up Ohlins suspension, in addition to full system exhausts for an R15, and they do even more mods. Doesnt matter if its a 2hp increase, it will be better than stock. Exhaust systems sure don't give much of an increase in hp for small bikes, but with a full system you will atleast feel that the bike is better than stock, with a slip on you will rarely feel any difference from stock. Thats why I said, if you wanna get aftermarket exhaust go for full system, you may not get huge leap in hp but atleast it will be better than stock, atleast some of the money you spend will be worth it unlike a slipon.

Forgive me for intruding.. But since, my name cropped up and i saw some interesting discussions related to R15 and Full exhaust systems let me put in my two cents. Yamaha R15 runs on a Open Loop ECU. The moment one puts in Akra or whichever Full exhaust system, there needs to be a change in the fuelling to compensate for the extra outflow of the gases. The stock ECU of an R15 CANNOT compensate for the change in fuelling requirement thus leaning out the AFR by a huge margin.

Eventually your engine will overheat and you may expect two things:

* The Water coolant gasket blows up and you witness spillover of coolant mixing with the engine oil and thus leading to a complete engine seizure, damaging gear box and other internal components in the process.

* The vehicle will run relatively hotter than stock vehicle leading to lesser life of the engine due to the hot and cold cycles of the engine and this one going to the extremes in the long run. Lesser performance in the top end

One will have to compensate for the fuelling which may involve with head porting and polishing of the stock engine head which allows better and efficient flow of AF charge in the combustion chamber and also a better after market ECU with an O2 sensor fitted to the exhaust pipe for running on close loop mode which will automatically adjust the fuelling during mid range speeds and then automatically runs on open loop mode when the rider goes on WOT or wide open throttle mode. Motozone has done such mods in the past and currently is busy building one of the most tricked out R15s in india for a rider with no - limits build: meaning no limits on the amount of greens spent to achieve the task.

For people willing to take the path of hot roding, know this: Being fast ain't cheap!! This comes from my personal experience and there are many riders here in this group who will verify the same.

Unless you belong to the group of enthusiastic Hot roders who don't care about the cost of achieving every bhp over stock @ Rs, 10,000 and beyond, stick to what the senior riders have suggested and go for higher CCs where you can justify the money spent VS Bhps achieved without having to tinker anything with the stock vehicle. If you do want to follow the path of hot roding then do lots of reading, understand the pros and cons and only then jump into the band wagon. Don't fall for marketing gimmicks: Akras and other brands can provide.

Use common sense first!!

Cheers,

shv18 What a total misunderstanding, we were not talking about modding R15 and I ain't no hot rodder myself(my bike is almost bone stock, I have mentioned this before, urgh). I was just telling that if someone were to go for aftermarket exhausts, full system is better than slip ons. That's that. I mentioned R15 just as a reference that there are people who do ridiculous mods that maybe too overkill for a 150cc bike, I mean a freaking steering damper for an R15? Seriously?
