  • At this point, I don't know if I can be able to participate, just giving a thought though - How about Pollachi instead of Horsley? IIRC, Horsley has been visited once in the past. Near by attractions to Pollachi are Anaimalai & famous Top slip.

Just give a thought even if you don't consider.

    • I'm not coming for the ride, reasons known to you all.

But, FYI - Horseley, The place will be crowded - Due to holiday season.

Top Slip, Two Wheelers not allowed. Need to park the bike in checkpost & hire a jeep.

My suggestion would be : Pondy - Hire a resort - eat, drink & merry.

Unfortunately i've hit a road block and could not proceed further in planning a weekend ride. Now, the message is that anyone can organize the meet/ride. Even if you wish to go alone for a long ride in your Activa, please wear the riding gear for your own protection.

Not this weekend, but I'd love to experiment with my Activa on a long ride. The longest I've done was the next day after I bought; did 192 in a single day, but took over 8 hours to complete due to run-in. Would like to exceed that limit.

Nishant - a ride to Pondy is just too short. Specially for the newbies. I can't comment about Horsley but the fun factor is guaranteed wherever we go ; Mypadu being a prime example of a crap location where we still had a rocking time. We need to do at least 200 - 250 Kms one way to qualify as a "ride" in my opinion.

                          • noc issues

hey bro, i have ma documents on the transportation of my bike via courier service and i have almost travelled the entire northern india residing there for nearly 3 years but never faced any issues about the NOC. whenever i was pulled by a cop, they just use to check ma vehicle docs and note down ma residing adrress and phone num. thats it, though my bike has registration of andaman and nicobar islands.
that particular night among the 2 checking scenario, only at 1 place i was asked for the NOC. and i did have ma license and every other document needed, i do carry them always cuz i know ma vehicle registration is from diff state so i have 90% of chances being pulled over here in chennai.

However, it is better to have NOC in hand if one expects to stay in a different state for >6 months. If not, it is better to keep the railway receipt/LR (Lorry Receipt)/Petrol bunk bill to substantiate that it was recently brought and would return home. (Pratical experience 15 years back). If I'm not wrong, NOC taken from the home state RTO is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. One can check with local RTO agent if that differs.

Point #2. NOC is not required for travelling to other state. Infact your vehicle registration certification is valid to take the bike entire political boundary of India. Just that you need to convince him by showing your home state license that you have come on a vacation. In most of the cases, while on road trip, after seeing the saddle, they don't tend to ask for NOC, however, some bad apples might ask out of the world questions for 'other source of income'.

(Yay! I'm not able to reply with quote).

As I said on this thread earlier, NOC is not required to ride your bike in other state. You can ride freely only for 6 months. If ts more than 6 months period, You need to pay that state road tax.Thats enough. No need of NOC or reregistration. As you said, you rid for 3 years, IS that without paying tax of chennai state? The cops who checked your documents might not be so much aware of this things. If its an office who is aware of these rules, Your bike must have been in trouble. If caught, Then Lifetime tax+Interest and fine. Must be little big amount.
