Guys,
This is to start the planning for new year ride on 5th and 6th Jan 2013. It will be 2 days ride with over night stay. Can we have some suggestion for the destination ? I was searching and found Pichavaram as probable destination. Its near chidambaram and around 224 kms from chennai. Please put more suggestion forward so that we can decide the place and start with the head counts.Nishant Kumar

If not, it is better to keep the railway receipt/LR (Lorry Receipt)/Petrol bunk bill to substantiate that it was recently brought and would return home. (Pratical experience 15 years back). If I'm not wrong, NOC taken from the home state RTO is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. One can check with local RTO agent if that differs.
Point #2. NOC is not required for travelling to other state. Infact your vehicle registration certification is valid to take the bike entire political boundary of India. Just that you need to convince him by showing your home state license that you have come on a vacation. In most of the cases, while on road trip, after seeing the saddle, they don't tend to ask for NOC, however, some bad apples might ask out of the world questions for 'other source of income'.
(Yay! I'm not able to reply with quote).
Still the validaity of NOC is 1 year.I took it last year for my Accent to be transferred to Kerala. But once it expired, you can go to the same RTO where you got the NOC to extend the date. But its a painful and lengthy process. Even getting an NOC is itself is a painful process. Better find out an Agent and shell out some more money for the same. It will take almost 15 days to get the NOC after applying for the same through Agent.
NOC is not required for travelling to another state. If you are driving to another state, you have to keep all the petrol bunk receipts and Toll receipts you received throughout the journey. If its send through parcel service, you need to keep the parcel bills and receipt challan. Sometimes Cops will check the PUC date whether its from that state as the validity of PUC is 6 months. If the vehicle runs in another state for more than 6 months,It dont require NOC.You ve to pay the road tax for that state.Thats enough.Earlier tax paying provision was there yearwise. Now you ve to pay for lifetime.ie till the current registration validity. However for Central Govt employees, this is not valid. They can use vehicle from another state If they work in that state. NOC is required only in case If you want to register the vehicle from one state to another, Or from one RTO to another.Happy & Safe Riding to All

Ehh?? Need some education here please.Originally posted by aargee View PostIf you take NOC, then you'll have hard time getting back to TN with the NOC!!!
Ok, I take NOC from RTO Chennai West for a road trip beyond TN. What will happen on my return to TN border?
Keep me tentative. I've been to Pichavaram during the 2010 new year week with Ragav, Deva and his office mates. Apart from boating through the Mangrove, there isn't anything interesting. I would think Horsely Hills instead. The place is not that great but would be nice for a meet. Check my signature to get an idea.Originally posted by thegame0012 View PostGuys,

Visited Pichavaram about 45 days back...There is a restaurant, and small shops at the boating place....Stay can be at Chidambaram which is the closest City. The boats are mostly booked in the morning itself and if you arrive in the afternoon you may have to wait for 3~4 hours for getting into a boat to ride...Otherwise there is nothing much to see ,unless you are a Natural society member interested in bird watching...The roads have become bad after rains, so watch out if you are planning on a trip...When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

I would think Horsley Hills is better and worth the run to enjoy cold mornings and photo shoots around the hill.Originally posted by thegame0012 View PostPondy overnight stay anytime - Inputs ???

In my opinion, need to get the rooms booked with APTDC soon. Two reasons, 1. Holiday season and that too weekend (5th & 6th Jan). 2. 99% they don't entertain spot accommodation and there is no alternative to my knowledge.Originally posted by thegame0012 View PostSounds good. Nishant, in my experience, don't wait for head count, you'll be counting till the last day. Try and book couple of rooms early as possible. Those who want to be part, shall hand over the money to confirm their participation on first come basis. Simple.Originally posted by thegame0012 View Postthanks to bring that up Sriram, now if every one is okay with it - can we have head count so that rooms can be booked.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011
