I see Kandaleru Dam not very far. We not always go for sightseeing but atleast a meet destination hopefully we get some good shade to hang out for chit chat. Has anyone got any information?

Plan A - We could do some short ride
Plan B - Very short ride say Mudaliarkuppam/Tiger Cave and have a chit chat


Ride date: 1st Feb 2014 - Confirmed
Short ride: Same day return - Confirmed
Destination: In discussion - In progress

I was searching for places around Sriharikota where we cound hangout, and I came across a place called Nagalapuram which also has a beautiful falls. Since it is a forest region, it should be shady where we can sit and chat. Let me know what you guys think. Some pics of the place attached.

Google pics are looking quite good.

I know it's not possible, but still giving a thought of visiting Chunnambar in Pondi. If we start by 5:00 AM (weather being extremely awesome), we can reach Pondi by 7:30 AM. After paying a courtesy visit to Surguru, it's hardly about 7 Km to Chunnambar. We could spend about 2-3 hours in the island (if we want to) & then ride back for a little late lunch to Chennai. Venkatesh, we can also consider Nagalapuram as an option. This is situated one of the ways to reach Tirupati and we could return via Puttur - Thiruvallur to reach Chennai (I remember the roads are good). Apart from the fact that we will need to trek to reach the falls (as seen in the pic)we can look at the positives we got :-

1. Comparitively less distance so more time to spend with the group.
2. Could easily find a suitable under tree for our group.

Short coming:-

No information.

Now we got three desitnations to choose from:-

1. Chunambar - 150 kms one way (approx)
2. Kandaleru - 200 kms one way (approx)
3. Nagalapuram - 100 kms one way (approx)

I've no issues with any destination as long as we can get back home for lunch or little late lunch. We can try riding via Sathyavedu & Uthukottai

And remember one point, distance to road to Pondicherry beats the other two in terms of timing as the roads are not only excellent but more of straight to keep up the speed

Chunnambar - Looks good, We can sit on the shelter or just laze around the beach. But would be HOT.

Nagalapuram - We can only ride till the base, and need to trek for couple of hours (As per @jkan69) - Not sure about how safe bikes will be.

Kandaleru - This was originally included while planning Mypaadu :P - I heard they were releasing waters from this dam (Krishna Water?) - Guess this would be a nice time to do.

BUT - Roads from NH 5 would be bad. (Expect Speed breakers and mad traffic)

I would vote for Chunnambar (One Day Ride) ; Kandaleru - Somasila - Kadapa (2 Day ride) ; Srikalahasthi - Tirupathi (1 Day Ride) (or) Our usual Tiger Caves FTW
