          • well..here i go .

My office is under renovation so i got a bit time to ride here n there. So me, avin, atul n nijish decided to make a early morning ride on Nandi hill. We we made up our mind i sent sms to many riders. Response was not impressive as we are making it on weekday. Ericin and Ninja came in. 11th hour Nijish dropped out. We are five now. Meeting place After Hebbal flyover opposite of Esteem mall. We need to reach there at 3 AM. Ericin will come my house by 2:30. Exact time he reached my house. We left.

            Just before hebbal flyover

Me and eric reached at the meeting point on time. withing few minutes everybody reached there. Now we are ready to start.

As we have enough time so decided to go Airport first then Nandi hills. As always beautiful roads and lighting on that road. We reached airport.

Stayed about 20 minutes there and left. We were maintaing speed limit as we r not on rush to reach. As i din't have dinner so stopped near yalanka to have tea/roti something. Had enough there. Soon we reached near the Hill. We again stopped to have egg fry. It was really good. Avin was not all agree to climb the hill in the dark. So we waited for sometimes to get a bit light.

            just before we start climbing...

Nandi hill curves are always fun. On our way back we will stop for photos n all we planned. But the misty road was inviting us to stop and take pics.

              Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, is a hill (betta in Kannada) located in the Chamarajanagar district of the state of Karnataka,at a height of 1454 m India and is extensively wooded. It is also the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. It lies in the core area of the Bandipur National Park and is frequented by wild life including elephants. Dense fog predominates and covers the hills round the year and thus gets the prefix Himavad(in the native language of Kannada) and the temple of Venugopalaswamy (Lord Krishna) gives the full name of Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta.

It is approximately 220 km from Bangalore and 75 km from Mysore on the Mysore Ooty road -10 km away from Gundlupet, which is 60 km away from Mysore. There is a motorable road all the way to the top of the hill. Entry fee is collected at the forest depeartment checkpost at foot of the hill. Visitors are allowed from around 6am till 5pm. Overnight stay on top is not allowed. Trekking and videography in the surrounding hills are allowed only with prior permission and to be accompanied by the forest department guides.

There is a forest department guest house at the top of the picturesque hill, which can be reserved in advance through the forest office in Mysore or Bandipur. The guest house provides basic accommodation, food and other essentials should be brought along by visitors.

                            • I iz back

I was out for a week on a trip to Kerala.
Just came back and checked here...it seems I missed a couple of nice rides.
Anyway I will be there for the next ones

Note: I did not go on a bike (family trip in an Innova actually) but I kid you not, the roads of Munnar are THE place for people who like twisties. The longest straight stretch I remember is around 500 metres long!
Attached is a pic of me at Munnar. Pardon the rather pained expression, it was a tough climb to the top.
