Here is the plan. (Tibby has opted out of this ride)Originally posted by Exo View Postwhere we going to btw?
Event : Ride to Horsley Hills (I reckon we go here since the road is slightly wider than the kanakapura road)
Date: Sunday, Aug 29th
Meeting place and time : The BP Petrol Bunk Opp Manipal Hospital (Old Airport Road) - 5:00 am sharp
Confirmed riders :
1. TijoJoy (R15)
2. Ark (Ninja)
3. Alok (Ninja)
4. twistedsoul (ride?)
5. n_aditya (Ninja)
We shall meet at the above location and proceed via whitefield to hoskote. Ark will meet us in whitefield as he stays there (no point in him coming in the opp direction and riding back).
Please be on time.
Please wear safety gear such as jackets, gloves, knee guards, etc. Helmets are mandatory. Carry your DL and vehicle docs as well.
Cu all in a few hrs.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

It was just 3 of us this time. Ark, Alok and me. All 3 ninja's.
Tijo dropped out as he was sick and Twistedsoul didnt turn up. I reached the meeting point and Alok arrived a few mins later. We waited for Twistedsoul till 5.20am and then left to meet Ark at whitefield.
The ride was OK. Not advisable. Our quest for a new location bombed wonderfully. The roads were decent... decent enough to do 80kmph. After a backbreaking ride till Kolar on single lane roads with maniac's on our lane coming head on, we decided to turn back as roads didnt seem to improve.
Just did 200kms round trip and got home by 11.30am. Apart from meeting the folks and spending some time in wonderful weather in a CCD outlet at Mulbagal i dont find anything worth mentioning about the ride.
so much for Horsley hills.

The highway is OK. Nothing much to rave about. Still a single lane with lot of diversions and vehicles running into your path while overtaking. Worst thing is they think its just another bike and they get into your lane while overtaking only to realize that the bike is also doing triple digit speeds. Add to that an odd pothole, or break in the tarmac and your bike can dangerously tramline / veer away.Originally posted by strider View PostHow are the road conditions since the Kolar road is being widened on the GQ standards?
I would never ride / drive on this road till the work is complete. There seems to be no progress or any work happening either.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

Hey, Sorry my bad... i couldn't upload the pic of the route that i was suggesting through devanahalli for Horsley hills. I was busy with my supposed to be LEH ride, and didn't find time to upload. The roads through that strech are Good (though single lane) and minimal traffic.
Let me knw the next time u r planning for it. I might tag along as well..

Bummer that your trip turned out that way - hope your next trip comes up well! It should be a overnighter, that would be real fun.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostThe highway is OK. On a lighter note, after all the bad roads and potholes, are you planning to buy
an inline four?

Yeah. just 100 kms one way and i was hammered. Already had a lower back ache and the ride made it worse.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostBummer that your trip turned out that way - hope your next trip comes up well! It should be a overnighter, that would be real fun.
We were planning an overnighter at Coorg with Exo (Alok) and Ark (Reggie) on Sep 10th (Ramzan holiday) but just got wind that 11th is Ganesh festival, so the coorg plan is out.
But we are gonna be riding some place like yercaud or so on Sep10th. Wanna come along?
If someone sells one within my budget and its a clean legal bike then of course.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostOn a lighter note, after all the bad roads and potholes, are you planning to buy an inline four?
I'll only ride on good roads... coorg and ooty etc. should be easily doable.

Steve, I'd love to join, that route is on my mind, but on a different dateOriginally posted by steveburnside2001 View Posthey guys, I am planning on a ride to kemmangundi - hebbe falls - kodachadri and back home in 4 days starting this saturday. if someone is interested please PM me.
I don't know if you already know this, but Hebbe Falls and Kodachadri together will be a major clutch burner. Have some clutch plates handy. I had to change my clutch plates in Chikmangalur after I got there from Hebbe Falls. 25 kms took me something like 4 hours to traverse."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller
