  • Ark and myself went to Krishnagiri and beyond for a ride last sunday. The plan was for saturday but due to my son's ill health I had to cancel the sat ride.

So we met as usual at Wipro Madivala at 5.30am and headed out as soon as we finished exchanging pleasantries. No one else was joining us and it was just the two of us. The ninja sisters (Ark's ebony black and my racing green) was turning heads all over town throughout our ride.

We reached A2B, the usual breakfast pitstop and after some idli's and poori's we rode to the krishnagiri dam. We saw a green ninja in front of a shop on the way and turned out it was xinfii. We were glad to meet the sore butt and spoke for a while... about his GPS, about his saddle sore attempt etc. We rode together for a distance and then he headed towards chennai.

We spent some time at the dam and then considering that the ride had still not satisfied us, we proceeded to ride towards salem for another 50 odd kms. Another A2B, some coffee and some juice and we headed back to blore. We stopped at the usual CCD for a snack and coffee and I reached home by 2pm. Was an awesome ride but was hoping we had more company. There was heavy crosswinds so we couldnt go over 120-130k's.

    here are a few pics.

        • Hi Guys
I am down to Bangalore from Coimbatore this weekend for the I-day ride.
I would like to know the shortest and Best route I could take for this trip.
Some people say Mettur, some say Thoppur, some say Salem, some say Rayakottai & finally some say there's no need to touch Krishnagiri, there's a direct route to Hosur.

My nokia 5800's GPS shows me a route that is 372km to Bangalore
My iPod touch touch's MAPS shows me a 362km route (all going through Salem)

you guys tell me (esp the regular customers @ Kari)

Any suggestions, scenic locations, tips for me??

I have done Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore several times, so I know that highway well.
Just need to get to Krishnagiri.
Expecting some quick replies as I have to chalk out plans now.

          Thanks a lot guys.

@ Coplay: Take the below Highways
              1. NH47 from Coimbatore to salem (160kms)
              2. NH07 from Salem to Bangalore (200kms)

I am familiar with this route. I often use this route to come to coimbatore say atleast once in a month. Doing this since 2+ years.
I would suggest this route for the reason, it is a well lay'd tarmac. You can reach bangalore in 5.5 hrs if you keep an average speed of 100-110kmph.(thou its illegal). However take some care and not to exceed 70-80kmph for the first 60km from coimbatore until you reach the median seperated 4 lane highway which is 15 km after avinashi.

                Heyy Thanks Sakthi,
I was actually planning to take the Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri-Thoppur-Mecheri-Mettur-Ammapet-Anthiyur-Athani-Sathyamangalam-Annur-Coimbatore route because PRaful and the others say its a very peraceful and scenic route + good roads ( only one stretch of bumpy roads)

While coming back I think I'll take the route you suggested. What do u suggest.

See, while going to Bangalore, I will have a lot of time. Buit while coming back, I need to ruch back as I have work the same morning (Monday)

                • I'm not too sure whether the Mettur route is good as of now. Two months back it wasn't really good, lots of patches, things in general which would slow you down.

I would suggest you to take the Sathy route while coming back, and from Sathy, head to Bhavani and sync up with the 4-laned NH47. Doing this while avoid the nonsense Avinashi road traffic.

nice ride and pics there ...

I did the ride to the dam as well and remember i asked you for help with the route ? well i managed to follow that mostly , but after the second flyover after the toll-gate , i saw the cellphone tower and a small village road as well ... thought aww heck lets take this and see where it goes ... went through a village with what i think was the waste water from the dam flowing alongside for company ... ( it was a slightly darker than the green of the ninja ) , slightly bumpy but i enjoyed it , it joined up back on the main road to the dam and from there the dam was just 1km ...

didn't pay toll anywhere ... we just went straight through , no one stopped us , went right around the dam to the water edge hads loads of fun and then jetted back ...

on the way back though was limited to 90kph as the winds were crazy ... my helmet was pushed right up to my face ... lot of drag coz of it ,plus my bike having no fairing , windblast was killing me ... my poor pillion had tears in his eyes through the whole way .

But all in all , a fun ride ...

See, while coming back, I am planning to take only the highways (eventhough its 40km extra) because I need to save on time to reach back to work.

                      • Hi banglore xbhpians,

Need a lil help, mostly informational. I'm riding to b'lore on first week of sep. Among other things I'd like to get a few mods done to my RTR180.
                        1. Convert to full DC - coil rewind, new rr etc
                        2. Looking to install the P220 headlight assembly.

I've heard Ruby electricals is the place to get the rewinding done. Can someone please help with contact details of them?
Will it be possible to source the p220 HL assembly from b'lore? And where can i get it installed, including any fabrication work that will be needed....
I'll be able to spare a week for the whole deal... can I get these done in this time frame?

looking forward to hearing from you...

Keep an eye on this thread for updates. Generally the rides are on weekends like fri night or sat / sun mornings. Off late due to the rains, there is less activity, hence you didnt see any action here. But rides do happen and details get updated here.

P.S. Avoid the sms lingo hommie. Its not easy to read.
