The "right" way would be to pay the 'Life Time Road Tax' for the state of Karnataka. That is all you need to ride without a hitch!

If you can prove your date of entry into the state with either fuel slips/toll receipts/courier bill then you can ride your bike for atleast 12 months without paying the LTT as well. But some cops want money and will tell you that its 15day/1-2 months. Technically if you can prove your entry date then you have a year before you need to pay up the LTT!

            Thanks Prafull,

my bike was sent through mover and packers and has reached b'lore toady. Technically i will get hold of it today or tomorrow morning. i would be provided with a receipts once i get my bike with me. so that mean i get a year before i pay LTRT that good..

            • If you have permanently relocated to blore, u can pay the LTT here and claim for re-imbursement from the state where you previously paid tax.

                • What i meant by permanently is, If u are paying LTT here, u could then claim for reimbursement from the other state.

                  • Claiming for reimbursement is a very long drawn process and most of the time by time you get it after feeding the agent the amount is very limited.

If you plan to sell the bike in BLR then you have to atleast pay the road tax.

                      • ^^ Just FYI. I ride a TN registered bike in KA for the last 3 years! No road tax paid, No NOC! Not asking you to do the same, but it my choice to not pay for the our govt's laziness to not implement a unified taxation structure!

                            • Dont worry much about the NOC and Road tax stuff. u need to get it done, only if u intend to sell it here n since thats not your option, dont bother. Even i had ridden an AP registered bike for close to 4 years without any hassles...
