coming to the bhadra coffee house ride..guys what is the ride date? I do remember some discussions regarding the final dates and all..but was the date finalized after all? I might be missing something..

Hold your horses till Dec last week. If all goes well (read holidays from office), I might just have a good plan for a loooong ride to either Kerala or Maharshtra. Current plan for either of the places is 5 days and 2000 kms.

Okay... so... I learnt to ride on a suzuki shogun and have ever since been in love with two strokes. I owned one for good six years before I gave to my mech/tutor.

About a week back while on a short ride towards a place called peradoor I stop by house and have a look at something... more like plants on a bike. The curious me decides to get a closer look. What I see it just amazes me but a part of me gets extremely angry. What lied beneath the weeds was a 1991 suzuki shogun. Surprised and shocked and pissed I continue with my ride. All the while thinking about the back. Half way I decided that I needed that bike and decided to buy it

On my return ride stopped again and spoke to the house owner. Learnt the reason for the bike being in that condition and it was sad. I request the man for the keys and he happily obliged. After four kicks tge bike started. I was surprised that it did looking at its condition.
Spoke to the gentleman about it a little more and expressed my interest in the bike and offered to buy it. He just didn't agree , I gave him my no. and asked him to call me if he ever changed his mind. A few days back I got a call and he said okay.

So today morning I go there and buy this legend of a machine. Though the engine seemed to start, I need to open it and check it out. Also body is in one of the worst shapes ever possible. I plan a two stage restoration where the body work and painting and assembly I shall do in udupi, where the bike currently is and the second part of working on the engine I shall do it back in blore where it shall be easier to source the parts. A lot of work ahead but I hope to get this machine back to it's glory.

Means we'd have a stroker with us in the next 6-8 months. And ya, if you don't mind; how much did it damage your pocket by?

yes I do hope to restore it completely within next 6 months but again there is a great history for the non-availability of shogun oem spares.

Actually initial damage wasn't much, paid 7.5k for it which according to me is great vfm but I am worried more about the rebuild costs

Wow! 7.5k is a steal. Add 20k at max to bring it upto date.

Thanks a lot for the info. I will be dismantling the bike completely by tomorrow that shall give me a better idea as to things I'll need

Okay.... so I dismantled the bike and this is wat I find so far, that needs to be changed...

Pretty much everything except for the chassis, speedo and tacho. I expected this but still

and I am yet to open the engine.
