Bangalore-ooty route safe?
Hi all, Here I am posting my very first thread on xbhp so plz bear with me if i do anything wrong. I'll be going through the forum rules when I'm back from this trip im going to ask about.
I'm going to ooty from bangalore through mysore and as i was researching about the route i came across some very serious concerns for bikers on this route like extortion by villagers, framing innocent riders, stealing and what not. It gives an impression that this is a not a safe route to go with. I'm planning on starting at 4 in the morning from Bangalore and reach ooty during daytime. This will be my first solo ride and that too in south india. Since I dont know the language and the route I'm picking is not deemed safe according to a lot of people in forums, i just want to know if theres any base to these things. I'm not at all going to back off as I've made my mind and i really need this ride. But a few tips and experiences would help.
p.s. Ive gone through the previous threads on the topic but would like to know the current situation.
Thanks and wish me luck guys.

Re: Bangalore-ooty route safe?
First time I'm hearing about villages indulging in extortion etc. To my knowledge, riders always felt safe to ride Ooty from Bangalore. Local language could be an advantage but with English one can manage. Sign boards are clear at strategic points and you should be all set.Originally posted by artster View PostHi all, Here I am posting my very first thread on xbhp so plz bear with me if i do anything wrong. ...... But a few tips and experiences would help.
1. Carry water and keep hydrating yourself at breaks.
2. Carry rain wear and cover for your luggage as it might rain all of a sudden.
3. Ride relaxed and have patience with other road users. Trucks do give way so try not to irritate them.
4. Watch mirrors for speeding cars behind you.
5. While riding in the ghats, do maintain your lane and honk at blind turns.
6. If the weather turns dark and dull, run with your headlights.
7. Last but not the least, sleep well before the ride day.
Wear riding gears and ride safe!RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Re: Bangalore-ooty route safe?
Nothing's gonna happen, mate. No chance! Bangalore-Mysore is fine. After that, continue in NH 212, then NH 67 to masinagudi via Bandipur: Good roads but a bit narrow single lanes at times. Also, straight till bandipur and Ooty of course. The time that you've chosen, I seriously doubt that anything's gonna happen even if the rumors were true.Originally posted by artster View PostHi all, Here I am posting my very first thread on xbhp so plz bear with me if i do anything wrong. Two options to go to ooty. One via mysore-bandipur-ooty and another via krishnagiri-salem-mettupalayam-coonoor-ooty. Latter one is fast paced and former is nature- faced ;-)

I have 2 routes in Mind. BLR-MLR-GOA and BLR-GOA.
Please suggest how we can split the journey without considering it as a Tiresome Road trip..

Re: The Official Bangalore Offline Meet (G2G) Thread
Guys, we're planning an overnight GTG at Sakleshpur during the second or third weekend of December. We'll be staying in tents there, exploring the surroundings, gupshups etc. Please let us know who all want to join so that we can plan accordingly and book the accommodation.Yamaha YZF R15 V 2.0 (Oct, 2012 - Present)
Yamaha YZF R3 (Sep, 2015 - Present)
My Review of Yamaha R3 at 100K ODO
Ride a motorcycle if you want to live free, but above all ride it safe and make others' lives safe.

Re: Bangalore to Goa Road trip
Please let us know which part of Goa you'll be visiting. If it's north Goa then the best route is B'lore-Belgaum-Jamboti-Chorla Ghats-Goa. If it's south Goa then you can take B'lore-Hubli-Karwar-Goa. If you need some more scenic and adventurous route then take B'lore-Shimoga-Sagar-Hoinnavar-Goa route.Originally posted by rkkp2232 View PostHello..
