Default Yamaha SZX

Hi All ,

First of all i would like to thank You all for all your suggestions on all other bikes( Pulsar 135/Slingshot/Twister)... for the past 25 - 30 days i hooked into XBHP forum... !!

Finally Today i got My Bike Yamaha SZX (Red)!

Today I ride around 30 Km...

My first Bike is Suzuki Max 100 R, Second one Unicorn .. So i can compare my new Bike SZX with only Unicorn & say my experience...

I am Crazy about Yamaha ..but i Chose Unicorn when i bought in 2005...But this time i was looking for a commuter bike which should have Great Looks, Fresh one , good mileage (around 50 km) ..I made my mind i should Buy Yamaha .. & SZX fullfilled all my requirement..! So i choose it over other bikes in this segment..(IMO szx will come in 125 /135 segment only)

My Opinions / Experiences about SZX After Riding 30 Km:

1) The bike is very light weight when compared to uNicorn..

2)I like the riding Comfort/position of SZX over unicorn...(Not sure will it work for long distance will post that experience this weekend)...

3) engine smoothness:: Unicorn is way ahead when it comes to smoothness..! i can rate 7/10

4) Gear shifting : i felt very hard to shift it form 2 to 3 & 4... In unicorn i shift it with great ease..(not sure SZX will become smooth after sometime)

5) Looks: i like SZX over Unicorn when it comes to styling ...

6) i dont have the feeling of riding a 150 cc vehicle when i ride SZX...

[Will post the pics thhis weekend, i dont have Good camera now in chennai...]

Guys i dint ride other bikes( except unicorn) so i can compare it with only unicorn..

I am satisfied with SZX ! BCos i looked for a Stylish Commuter Bike!!

@dhilip - Just one question for the moment. Is the tank plastic like FZ or metal like any other bike?

@Hellsfury:: Thank You ..

@all
Till Now i have driven 254 kms.. Today traveled 165 km.. Its really awesome ride..

Comfortness/Handling:
The Bike is very comfortable...NO Back/Neck pain after riding 165 km...The Handling of the bike is very ease than anyother 150 cc bikes (Unicorn).. Especially at traffic its very much easier to handle her..even at 4th gear i can drive at 20 km without any hiccups..
Yamaha has given a Light Weight 150 cc vehicle... My Top Speed is 60 Km .. so i cant say anything about Power/pickup of the bike till sometime.. Most of the 150 cc vehicle either it will be heavier (dont know about apache) and in traffic it will be little discomfort.. i havent felt anything like that in SZX..

Mileage :
Really No idea... i have filled 10.5 litres.. waiting for Reserve.. Before that i fill my Tank in Pondicherry .. anything above 50km is fine for me...

Pricing:
This is one of the Value for Money Bike which has Great Looks,Fresh,Comfortness, handling ..(Not sure about power/pickup)

Just Revisiting the points which i have posted after 30 km & given my feedback...
1) The bike is very light weight when compared to uNicorn.. [ Feels the same after 250 KM]

2)I like the riding Comfort/position of SZX over unicorn...(Not sure will it work for long distance will post that experience this weekend)...
[ Its good for Long distance too..]

3) engine smoothness:: Unicorn is way ahead when it comes to smoothness..! i can rate 7/10
[ i feel Gear shifting is still little hard when compared with Unicorn, engine smoothness is Good after 100 km though cant par with Unicorn]

This is a very interesting bike because of it's price / performance ratio , keep us posted about your experience after the break-in miles . It's normal
for any bike to be little rough and hard-gear-shifts untill 1500 Kms . It'll
also overheat untill 1000Kms . Change oil at 500 , clean the oil filters . Stick to yamaha recommendations for speeds & rpm until 1000Kms .
cheers .
