someone plz comment on the following :-

1) I use castrol power 1 and change it every 3K ..driving speed is generally 70-80. ....Is this the correct freq ?
As per my mech says 1k is the frequency to change. Also 3 month interval period for successive servicing.

2) About tyre pressue.
Front : 22
Rear (120/80 zapper tyre) : 30.
i ride mostly on highways . are these figures appropriate ?
I keep it 28 front & 32 rear...but mine is mostly city riding

3) The bike manual says to change the fork, brake oil every 10 K.
My bike is working fine without any issue...shall I still chage the above fluids?
Ya follow the manual.

IMHO p180 dosent need it...Actually speaking how much difference does it make?? Anyone tried riding the bikes(p200 & p220) with disabling the oil cooler?? the basic design is of the AIR COOLED engine...and oil cooler is just to maintain the optimum oil temperature.

2. i go for 25front and 35 rear on highways. lesser grip but lesser friction too.
3. check with mech mate. you should be ideally changing it if it is running low.

still havent tested the top-end as my sparks were like 13k kms old!, just changed them yesterday, will put in a new dose of 300v...let us see...before the bike used to easily keep pulling till 123-124...for that i needed to heat the engine properly, in the first blast itself the bike had not touched that figure for quiet sometime, probably coz of the sparks i guess...but the 0-70 and 70-120 is now fcukin faster, you know scary fast, Like when you are kinda accustomed to the bike which does a 60-120 in ages, now the speedo ticks like that of a RTR!!! trust me the 180's engine is full of surprises..
how come mate? i too use 300v and rpm has never gone below 4k after run in period. but still i get average 35 including highways...
did you do anything else to the bike ?

hi guys! After completing a 11,000+ Km ride in 45 days, I would like to share some of the insight we got from our P180 UG3!

(1) We had been using Motul 300V, single pilion. Results were basically the oil level depreciated quiet a lot. We regular top ups we managed to keep that oil for 7200Kms. The point is that the bikes were running on average for 90+ in the plains.

(2) I had removed my K&N, which i think could had been good in high altitudes areas where my bike absolutely refused to go more than 70 with full thorttle even on even roads.

(3) On plains, even with sustained very high speeds we managed to get a mileage of 40+ which i think is very good.

(4) WE experminted with various level of tyre pressure. And fianally setteld at 30/36! Yes it's too high, but that gave us the power cope up with a Honda CRV at 123Kmph!

In case of any long running doubts do let me know..

dude,

this bike is of surprises...

it gives you most when you least expect...
here is an incident...
but before let me tell you my bike history...
this bike is pulsar 180 dtsi ug II edition with black alloys and red paint scheme.
my bike has done 28000kms. and mostly abused.( this abuse started since the day I bought her in a way that I started to learn wheelies on it.) which I am still a novice... because I soon gave up learning this art... due to some ass-breaking crashes).
but then apart from regular serivicing and teflon coating I did nothing on my bike.

I put POwer 1 which I change at every 2500kms.
until now no brake oil change, no fork oil change... nothing and no wire change or filter change.

just some washing and engine oil change on the name of serivicing...

now the great incident...
I had to make this ride to Jaipur( a round trip basically)
and that sums up to 550kms approx.

I just changed the engine oil before the trip( that too because it was much needed)
and I started the trip at 80 kmph from Delhi thinking that this would be the best speed for engine this mellow in the morning at 5am.

then just by reaching gurgaon expressway... I found the road to be empty that delighted me...
and I started running it fast constantly at 105kmph... and I hardly remember that I brought the speed down...except on some rare occasions to overtake or so...
that day engine was really boiling.. the problem of over heating... I thought it may cause some problem but it didn't and that was the time of August so no atmospheric cooling(as in winters) except air cooling.

untill Jaipur I found the road to be super smooth and empty that day and did the trip at 105-110kmph( if you want I can post the pics of my trip) and believe me I did the journey in 3hours
and that means... I was really fast... if you want I can also give you the petrol pump bills justifying the time....

and on the way the bike was badly abused constantly at 105-110kmph (meter indicated 115)...
I did not go to speeds at 117kmph the top-speed of pulsars to keep the engine relaxed.
the same day I returned.... with these speeds....
before going to Jaipur I was in very much apprehensions as to what may happen if the bike breaks down on the way... but by God's grace nothing happened to me and my bike.

ankit.

Hi All
I started my biking saga with a P180 Classic in 2002. Used it for 2 years and then in 2004 changed to P180 Dtsi V1. Completed around 30 k and still going strong. no major issues with the bike, thought its getting a little rough now.
