never felt lack of power cos at that time i didnt know how to take fast pick up ( all i know is quickly put it in top gear and than full throttle)

but undoubtedly best commuter india ever had and still sells strong even when competition tried everything.

i think will rules (in term of sales) for coming 5-6 yrs untill the 100cc market in completely dead.

no i wonder i still recommend it to anyone in that class cos of reliability and resale.

hey friends i was planning to do some modifications on my splendor recetly i have replaced my rear tyre to 3.2 from Ceat changed the front headlight to splendor plus but planning to some more changes

Like changing the headlight to old pulsar head lights round ones

changing the mudguard to something like SX Endura

is it possibile to put adjustable shock absorbers in splendor

can i fit the old splendor silencer to my Y2K model and are there gonna be any problems.

Also i would like to know whether aluminium mac wheels are good for splendor as they are a bit heavier than normal alloys.

Also if there is anyway to tweak the engine for more power and speed

Recently my splendor had gone for engine overhauling where i replaced the y2k silencer with non y2k and after doing the first service i found out there is a bit vobbling in the wheel movements i checked the bearings and alignment airpressure all seems to be ok, has ny1 else came across same issue on splendor

Yesterday when I rode my uncle's bike, I thought I will give a try for top speed because it is already three years old and it touched 100 in no time and there was still left more..........


My question is is that speedometer accurate??

If it is yes then these Hero Honda bikes are better than those other 150 CC bikes because other bikes when they reach 100 they sound as if some big boulder has been put on them and this SS is going so smooth but with bit of vibrations.

My 5 years old ( bought used from a friend who bought new unicorn )
splendor plus was due for a good overhaul , it was telling me sometimes ,
i hadn't serviced it for an year and a half at all , except for three oil changes
i did myself . problem was I did not have time to do that so i sold it off ..
and now after looking at many many new bikes .. i was so surprised that
there is none better for me ( 5'5" 60kg daily office/factory/site commuter )
so i booked a new splendor plus (spoke) again .
I want a few suggestions
1) how can I simply and DIY make the headlight more bright and focused ,
because I was never satisfied and always nervous driving back late
on the highway-like road to my home .
2) my battery was never fully charged by driving , so i have plans to make ( i'm electronics tinkerboy ) an in-garage overnight charger for the battery without removing it from the bike or even opening the side panel . Any ideas ?
3) anymore ideas for splendor mods for the rainy dark night roads ahead ?

I bought it when I joined my first job, my father paid for it, I was too poor to buy any bike. This was my first one.
Why did I choose it then? I saw Splendor everywhere, in different colors. I did not know what was cc, what was bhp!
I liked the model and it also did relate to my those days financial condition when you can not ask your father for money every time you need and therefore the best known mileage bike was my choice.
Then in 6 months time I joined in a good place and commuting by bike was not a good option there as it was pretty far from my place. I used to ride on it around locality and while moving within city, but not much.
As days passed, my love for biking remained the same but somewhere I did not like this bike (I started considering it as a poor man's vehicle).
I used my bike to highest possible performance, you know what I mean,, changing the gear at highest possible rpm, braking at less distance, etc. etc.. and yes, I did service it regularly from HH service cntr.
My negative love for this bike continued and continued but I cherished only 2 things thing in it, the pick up and the "never let down on road". I have raced with my friend's Pulsar 180 and did maintain winning position till 60-65 kmph.
I remember one incident when it was heavily pouring in Bangalore one cold day back home and I had to stop by some bus stand shelter where others did stand too. The shelter was full and I got a place just by the corner and water did not spare me. I was 101% wet and started shivering badly and it was a visual to see a person vibrating in cold!! I felt that I am going to die. I moved to the next cigarette shop which had no external shelter and stood there with my helmet on (still shivering) and somehow finished 2 cigarettes. It did not work. I decided to move on. I saw people with same thought of moving on rather than standing and drenching and trying to start their bikes for minutes. Mine started in one regular kick. Wow. It is actually not a bad day!
Next thing, I dont know how you can actually feel, but I felt it that day.
I started moving and rain did not seem to stop.
But I could feel some level of difference. I started getting warmer. I felt that the engine was evaporating water that was residing on it and it became warmer. I could feel the machine warming up and bringing me back to life. I reached home managing through water logged roads with pot holes and side parked cars crossing a distance of 7 km in 1 hour +
But slowly this incident faded from my memory.
Finally time came when I had a broken front dome and broken front mud guard and experienced couple of time that this bike is too light weight to continue on slippery or low grip roads (I have a family now).
I sold it off..for a new pulsar 180.
Today when I look back, I see that I don’t have my best company on road, which has never said on road that “I will not move now, you continue by other means”! I had tear in my eyes, the moment I realized I will not see my Splendor any more (when I was thinking about selling the bike, it did not affect me much but ,when I gave it off to the person who bought it from me and handled over the papers to him, it was the moment)
The 100 cc engine delivering a steady 7 bhp power output has accompanied me in every moving moment whenever I needed it. I really did not take care of it much except the regular on time servicing.
Today I have a bike pricing almost double of the Splendor but still I wish, if I could retain the Splendor. I might have neglected the presence of that when I had it, but today I know what I had. It was a true companion of me and it was my first bike.

Gr8 bike man...preferably go for the black wheels version as it looks much better than the silver...owned it for 2 years now and love it!! Gives an average of 74kmpl in city riding, and though it doesnt go very fast, the pickup is quite good. I've managed to take it upto 95kmph. Tackles a load of three people weighing 75+kg and climbs inclines with ease. also quite suited to my height of 5'11".
want a bike with good looks, good mileage and super-reliable, go for this one!

Just one thing. at times when I'm going quite fast, the engine feels a bit under strain, as if it could be shifted to 5th gear...like an idiot at times i shift further to actually verify i am in 4th!!
