Got to do something about this weak headlight on my splendor+ , just braked myself alive from a massive roadhole by inches yesterday at 75kmph at night .
Any suggestions ?

Don't know what exactly the problem is, but here are some things you could try:
>Check the wiring, if necessary get it replaced if it is old. Also check for loose connections.
>Change the bulb, go for something better than the one recommended by HH. I'm not sure which exactly is the bulb used, but you could ask the guys at the auto-parts shop. They have a fairly useful knowledge.
>Take out the headlamp assembly, clean out the reflector with a soft cloth and a mild solution of water and spirit, and the glass with a damped newspaper.
>You could also get the dynamo checked at the service centre.
I'm glad you avoided what could have been a massive accident. Thank your guardian angel, that you and the bike are safe.

Was it done without any engine overhaul?
Nope, engine was overhauled @88k kms. Thats entirely because of me. Dad left the bike with us when it was around 11k kms. it was during my inter days, too much cash crunh. Twice i overshot the oil change intreval. Once i changed it at 12k kms and once at 6k kms. thats spoiled the engine most.
other than that, i changed the clutch plates and chain kit during over haul only. Did'nt go for a new bore, i got the old bore rebored. (.25)
Regaurding the headlights, I had a spare bulb from my RTR, i fixed that in the splednor and the lighting was better.

try honda unicorn's or shine's headlgiht bulb. they cost a bit more...around 175rs. Reviews abt it have been satisfactory. Am gonna use it on my RTR once the current one goes kaput.
Just remove the bolt below the front indicators(both L&R) to open the bikini faring.
Also I am planning on shifting from HeroHonda 10w30 engine oil to more common 20w40 gulf/motul/elf . Is that ok ? What is your experience with engine oils with this particular bike ?

It should not be a problem at all. But make sure u flush ur engine oil well form the engine oil.
@ ALL : I have a CD 100. 92 model. still running strong and super. I would like to know the cost of clutch plates and i am also interested in the Carburetor that the splendor comes with. How much do i need to spend ?

Have been using Castrol most of the time in my splenodr. Used motul 3000 4t twice, i liked it but then i need to travel 10kms for that oil. Got my splenodr serviced today and the mech poured in ELF oil. Its smoother than castrol!

A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels,scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)
I have Hero Honda Super Splendor 2006 Model, my first bike bought with my pay and till today I have never drove rashly or harshly its best bike for daily commuting , and it has a clean service record, of every 3 months once and now once in 6 months. Its the best bike I can ever say, no problem at all a reliable machine, actually just after the first year was over Ibought the machine in 12 May 2006 and on 13 May 2007 I had complained to service centre guy about the battery not being charged, and why he did not charge the battery properly , he checked the battery (EXIDE) and told that sir one cell has failed if you would have come 2 days earlier we could have changed it under warranty. I just told him that i cant bear the cost of a new battery so just charge it properly, also earlier they used to service and give in 2 hrs at that time they just used to pour acid and give back battery, then I told them to take extra time 4-5 hrs for battery only, and the supervisor became my good friend. Now its more than 4 years and every time I go to service centre they tell battery is weak, I dont know they tell in real or joke I tell them to charge it and it runs fine for again a couple of months. Now I am really planning to change the battery but I wonder howcome a battery can last more than 4 years... ???? When all service centre guys tell its life of 1.5 - 2 yrs.
Also during this recent service the hero honda service guy told me that the bore life of HH Super Splendor is 30K kms and since my bike clocked 28 K kms it might need changing. HH guys pls clarify whether the bore needs replacement at 30 K kms ;(
every time I go to service the service centre guy will raise bike full accelerator and show me little smoke comming from bike and tell this is not well this is not right, etc, etc now my querstion is if you raise any bike to full accelerator on stand it gonna give some smoke, because even the petrol can be unpure and combustion always produces some waste gases , smoke, so how can the guys treat the smoke as some unhealthy part.
till now 3 times they changed spark plugs stating that at this Kms you need to change the plug,, but till now I never had a single problem with the bike. Just two months ago I changed the engine oil at Shell and at service centre the guy tells engine oil is all black and level is low you have to change it sir, i told them just 2 months ago i changed at shell, for 250 bucks actually at shell they pestered me to go for 750 bucks oil synthetic one, but I chose for 250 bucks only. And now after 2 months that 250 rs gone waste as HH service centre put their own oil.
About the product I would like to say its an excellenet product from Hero Honda, but many times the Hero Honda Service Centre guys them selves do change any part, so i fear taking it to service now and then.
About headlight I have seen the headlight of bajaj sunny more powerful than HH super Spelndor its not too bright, only upper seems bright but the dipper is very thin, this prob im facing since i bought the bike. Might be the plastic which hangs in fron t of the bulb makes it thin or the alignment???
