You mean to say that even the reflector is made with metal ?
    20volts and 3amps = 60watts
    13volts and 4.62amps = 60watts

So even if you change the voltage, final output will be the same.(Please dont remove the RR or use voltage>15)
Here max power generated by the magneto is constant.

Even If you re-wind the coil, you cant run a 55watt bulb just because the RR wont support the extra load and I don't know any other AC/DC RR which does that.

    OR
Disconnect all the other bulbs and run only 55watt bulb and check if it glows with max intensity.

    • Riding around in the city in monsoon rains is my favorite timepass .

Had a narrow miss with a speeding bus like this yesterday ...

Which is why I like these better ..

And the river is swollen to the brims ..

But unfortunately very little hilsa fish this year , despite these guys trying so hard ..

note - both the speedo & the fuel-gauge dials have fogged up quite a bit in the rains, what to do about it now ?

        In which photo ?

Unfortunately I cant ride in rains because I get cold and fever the next day

Which bulb do u think have more intensity Philips or Halonix??
The philips one i tried is the Blue Vision 4000k while Halonix is normal yellow got from Maruti Spare Centre , so obviously as one is pure yellow while other is Whitish so i think comparing them is not good idea , but i found that yellow is good than whitish .

These meter are made like air tight seal so that no fog would come up inside. If there is, that means there must be some leak which causing a fog to generate inside. I've never experience a fog inside the meter until and unless by meter glass got a crack line about 2 mm. I used a feviquick and a problem was gone.
So inspect there must be some gap or leak which is causing a fog inside.

Yes even the reflector is made up of metal. New CD Dawn is coming with plastic one. Even my mudguard is made up of iron. Only a side covers are fiber rest things are made of metal.

Logically this is true. but for example if u give 20v 3 amps to a 12v 60w bulb, the bulb will not glow in its full brightness. It should match the impedance of the bulb and this can be done via step-down transformer or a auto transformer. If u check the volts & amps by giving 20v 3 amps it'll show u pumping 5 amps & 10-12v automatically which may overload the coil.

Nope, max power generated by the magneto is limited. Current stays constant but the volts varies via acceleration. Hence, power is not constant.

Yes there is no doubt that yellow is better than white & blue lights. I've read in one forum, one guy tested Osram, Halonix & Philips and he found Osram to be more brighter whereas other two were same.
Now I dunno the fact until & unless someone can compare it, but who cares
But if u see the diameter of Philips glass is less than Halonix, which may be brighter i guess

                • Just came back from work. it is pouring cats and dogs here.this is my first ride in such heavy rain on my extreme.i have numerous time rode in heavy rain on my joy but this is the first on my extreme.
@pinaki-even my favourite pass time is riding in rain. whenever it rains i find different reasons to ride. i just returned from work(a distance of 80 km) in this pouring rain at 10 o' clock. i like to ride getting wet like dog.
@paul- the cd-dawn was a re-incarnation of dawn which was a re-incarnation of joy. the joy was the best quality bike from hero honda which cost rs. 46,0000 on road in 2001 which had steel mud gaurds and was the first bike in india to sport mfr head and back light. but bajaj launched the boxer at rs. 340000 on road as a result joy didn't sell. so cd- dawn was launched in 2003 at the same price as boxer to compete and all other models got a price cut. but the quality that was present before 2003 models was lost. although hero honda provided better quality than compeitition still the old quality got lost. any body who rides my joy tells that it feels like new bike even after 3 lacs km.
the first model cd-dawn has a headlight like tata ace- metal reflector with the glass corrugated. i would advise you to use philips german bulb that comes in new extreme. the magneto has a maximum output of 60 w so it is useless to fiddle with it. go to hh parys and ask for new extreme bulb. it is philips and has less thickness than othet halogens and is very bright. cost rs. 195.
@shoeb- even i have high eosenophils and sinus but still like to ride in rain like dogs run in rains.
@all-any body if comes to bhubaneswar is welcome to test my joy. i gaurentee that after riding you will tell that this is finest from hero honda stable. even my mechanic tells it and all service center also tells the same.

No traffic cops either . Hopefully the dampness doesn't hurt those meter-dials much .. no time to tend to this now . Even my trusty old wristwatch got fogged dial today .

It is a good pastime for me to ride in rain too....Since I live in a coastal place, during rain we also get high winds near the beach roads...and I love riding there, with wind tossing you left to right and rain hitting you like little needles.....
It is good to see painted trams and parts of Kolkatta again after so many years...Thanks Pinaki ji.....
If the Gauge's seals are old and failed then this fogging will happen.... for the watch fogging check the back cover and crown pin seals...mostly it is the crown pin seal which goes defective.

The voltage regulator circuit you had shown is a series pass circuit and the Series pass transistor 2N3055 will get hot...you need a large heatsink under high load current situation....

Sibun try yoga and sea cod pills it helped me a great deal in having good health.

                      • Answers for my questions that I asked to DILIP BAM of Indiabike

Q1.My bike air cleaner element is foam type. I am confused how to apply oil in the filter. Should i have to soak the filter in oil or just apply a few drops on the inner and outer . And what oil should I use?.can i use gear oil 90 . Can I use diesel to clean the filter?. Posted On
A:IT IS BETTER TO WASH IN PETROL THAN DiESEL BKOZ SOLVENTABiLiTY OF PETROL IS HiGHER THAN DiESEL. DiP THE FOAM IN PETROL AND SQUEEZE IT MANY TiMEs. FiNALLY SQUEEZE IT VERY HARD TiLL AS MUCH PETROL AS POSSiBLE GETS SQUEEZED OUT. THEN LET IT DRY FOR @ 10-15 MiNUTEs AND PETROL WiLL EVAPORATE. THEN SQUEEZE IT IN THE AiR AND DiP THE SQUAZZED ELEMENT INTO OiL SO THAT IN EXPANDiNG THE ELEMENT WiLL SOAK OiL. SQUEEZE OUT BY HAND. I AM USiNG 20W40 OiL. IF YOU HAVE GEAR OiL 90 LYiNG IN YOUR HOUSE WHiCH IS OF NO USE TO YOU, I SUPPOSE IT SHOULD ALSO BE OK.
Q2.Actually what is clutch slippage?. How it is caused by using car engine oil in motorcycles?. Most of the engine oil companies instructs to use bike enginge oil in motorcycle due to this clutch slippage?. How a rider can identify clutch slippage during driving?
A:CLUTCH SLiPPAGE IS WHEN THERE IS RELATiVE MOTiON BETWEEN THE KLUCH PLATEs DUE TO WHiCH CLUTCH CANNOT TRANSMiT 100% POWER. IT IS NOT CAUSED BY USiNG CAR ENGiNE OiL IN MOTORCYCLEs. CAR ENGiNE OiL AND MOTORCYCLE ENGiNE OiL ARE SAME, NO DiFFERENCE. THE DiFFERENCE IS THAT IN WET KLUCH, IF THERE IS==P.T.F.E.==Poly Tetra Flouro Ethylene mixed in Engine OiL. P.T.F.E. is the most slippery substance on Earth AND CAN CAUSE CLUTCH SLiPPAGE. IT IS EASY TO IDENTiFY KLUCH SLiPPAGE. IF KLUCH IS SLiPPiNG, THEN THE ENGiNE RPM INCREASEs IMMEDiATELY LiKE IN IDLiNG (when engine is not in gear) BUT THE ENGiNE MOTiON DOES NOT GET TRANSMiTTED TO WHEELS AND SPEED DOES NOT INCREASE NORMALLY AS IT SHOULD. THiS CAN BE EASiLY FELT.
