Your range is varied man....AFAIK, RX 100 and Fiero are not available if you're planning to buy a new bike. Bullet TB are in a different league entirely, whereas Z 16 is a very new bike. Do some homework and shortlist few so that we can help better.

If you want 150 CC bike, I would suggest buy RTR or Unicorn or Hunk/CBZ. If you want 125 CC, CBZ stunner or Gladiator are good choices. FZ 16 can be considered if you're adventurous and want to try something that hasn't yet been proven!

One should always try to learn on your own bike only....as time passes its very difficult to switch to anyother bike(this applies if a person is a newbie to a with gear bike)....riding scooters is not a problem...!!

Also, try out some other bikes as well....as some of the bikes you mentioned are discontinued now..!! So, expand ur options and then try to choose between them..it wud help !!

Hey Karthik,
Learning a geared bike is no big deal..m sure you can pick that up in a weeks time considering you already ride a gearless..however buying a bike you would fall in love is really a big deal. Just want to know a few details
  1. Whats your budget for the bike??
  2. Whats your montly fuel expenditure plan?
  3. Are you looking for a new bike or a used would do??
  4. What kind of bikes do you like..i mean sporty (viz pulsar, unicorn etc) or tourers, cruisers (viz bullets, avenger)

i wouldn't agree with that... what i feel is that regarless of the vehicle, you need to put in a lot of hours practising riding safely before actually hitting the main roads... and choose a bike which compliments your physical stature/strength... you should at least be able to maintain balance on the bike and not feel the weight (which i did when i first started riding not so long ago...)

1. for new bike i can shell upto 75000Rs but if its a used bike in good condition my budget will be 20000Rs
2. right now i am shelling out 2000Rs for petrol but would like to bring it down to 1500Rs
3. i am open to both new and used bikes
4. am new to this tourer cruiser thing, but was managing with the back breaker, so anything with comfort and performance and economy will do.

pulsar is not my choice though since its most common and i am not the one who follows a lane blindly. am open to experiments.

@manishh hope the above point answered your question of me being adventurous or not.

Default @Karthik

75k can cover most of the bikes made in india..going by your fule expense any bike givin you an avg of >40kmpl should suffice (40km avg per day and petrol @rs 50)
I would suggest a new bike as for 20k range you would end up with a abused, half a decade old bike..
  1. Bullet TBTS: Head turner...but Too expensive..costs 1.15lacs but good economy..heard tat its in the 44+ kmpl ranges
  2. Bullet Classic: Expensive and less mileage
  3. hunk, cbz extereme, unicorn: Ideal (<70k and mileage in 52+kmpl)
  4. Apache RTRFi: Ideal (+latest technology FI. rear discs, clip on's)
  5. Pulsar 200: Ideal and not very common but mileage < 42kmpl
  6. Gladiator, Stunner: Smaller engines but enough for city travel and occasional outings.
  7. FZ 16: good looks + yam reliability but i feel its over priced.
Let me know if you need any further info.

thanks vinfreak for giving the options and the advantages

fz16 is one in my list(looks, performance) , dont know whats the mileage it gives.
cbz xtreme, unicorn, gladiator, stunner are out of my list. some how it did not look much appealing to me.
hunk and rtr fi i consider are good bikes. so they make it to my list as well
was looking at electra 4s as one option. good mileage, priced in the same range(i hope), tried tested and powerful.

and now coming to used bikes i was looking at rx100 and rx 135 because i have heard people saying its the best bike india has got till date. and heard it gives a decent mileage for all the power and performance it gives.
fiero- nothing much to say about this bike. has good pickup and mileage as well. no wonder police were given this bike for its package of features.

i am open to old/new 4strokes and also 2 strokes like yammie.
