    A200 / Unicorn / Zma.

For ergonomics I would suggest Honda Unicorn or the Avenger 200. Having ridden many bikes for considerable a considerable amount of time I can easily conclude that these two are the most comfortable ones.
You could look onto the Karizma too, high set hadllebars with rearset footpegs make long distance cruising easy.

guys the new bike plans are off as of now... did not want to meddle with the new bike while i am still in the learning process. the main reason is while the bike is new and i am novice, engine may get lot of punishment with wrong gears, and other things... so currently am looking at second hand bikes...
      hope my point is correct...

so now am on the lookout for a second hand bike.now guys which all bike i can list out for a budget of 25000Rs and not a penny more than that.

      REASON:
once i am ready with riding a bike and am confident, can extend my budget to R15 as well or may be the next generation performance bike.

get hold of an RX. learn to ride and since you are talking of 250s somewhere down the line then i trust a bit of performance will do you good. the RX can be modded if you know the right places to outperform most of our indian bikes. you should get one within your budget too and have some to spare for rebuilding the engine.

fiero - don't know much about it. i believe its a good buy.. the 1st version not F2. i've heard it's also mod friendly. the best guy to help you out with it would be joeljoe.

Rx 135's engine dispalcement is somehere around 132cc thats the major advantage, you would get a decent 5 speed rx 135 B/w 23 to 26k, just get it and you will feel 14bhp raw power which is unmatchable

              3. i am open to both new and used bikes
              4. am new to this tourer cruiser thing, but was managing with the back breaker, so anything with comfort and performance and economy will do.

pulsar is not my choice though since its most common and i am not the one who follows a lane blindly. am open to experiments.

I have been riding for about 18 yrs as well. I started with the bajaj sunny, hero puch, samurai, kinetic honda, lml vespa, RX135, Splendor and now the unicorn. I had the splendor for 8yrs, the sunny and puch each for about 3 yrs, Kinetic and Rx135 belonged to my bro. a short stint with the vespa and a Yezdi (each for 6 months). In my personal opinion, the unicorn has been the best of the lot.I do a lot of city riding, occasional weekend rides, I take my mom as pillion, my bro as pillion, lot of office riding, and it serves me well. The engine is really smooth, suspension is like butter, pickup is very decent and maintanence so far has been very low (its just 6 months old).

I'd go for a tried and tested bike, and I test rode a lot of bikes.

                Cheers!

thanks for the suggestion. i will definitely appreciate your suggestions. but now since i have decided to go in for a second hand bike , unicorn is again out of my list. and i did not tell it is a bad bike but it did not pull my attention towards it.

                      Sorry bro

Did not read the full thread . well you are going for a second hand bike because you don't want to screw up a new engine !!! I am sorry to say dear thats not the case at all . You hardly would take 2 or 3 days to get used to a new bike & trust me thats the case with almost all of us . I am sure that since you have been riding a Kinetic ( gearless ) the only problem you will have is with sifting gears at the right time . It hardly takes 2 days for one to learn the new pattern . So think once again on that front ..

Coming to a second hand ... Lots of options .

Yamaha - less millage more power - youth
Hero honda - Enough milage , less power ( normal work going and small trips ) easy to maintain .
TVS - Fiero - good power ok milage . ok to maintain - good touring
TVS - samurai , star sity , - More millage no power
Honda - shine , unicorn - check the engine with some good mec and take - good millage , nice power , smooth , good touring
Bajaj - would be screwed up bikes - but still - check for 135 discover , 100 cc once and 125 cc once . check with a mech -before taking - ok millage - low on touring option
Check the CBZ - must be again messed up bikes ..

                      Hope this helps

                        Hope this helps
                        now then,
                        1. rx 100
                        2. rx 135 4 speed/5 speed
these will be the bikes i have on my list.now

                        2. rx 135 4 speed/5 speed- 2 stroke, great power, more of youth in it. decent mileage. more over its a yamaha engineering. its said to be the second best bike india has got ( in its segment). priced a little too high(bangalore rates) and hard to get a stock one.

                        1. rx 100- wat can i say about this? its considered the best bike ever india has got. 2 stroke, great power. well cant talk about mileage. getting only old 88 models(japanese versions) at 15000 Rs.

now of all the bikes mentioned all i need to know is ,
in which way rx 100 is considered better than rx 135?
and what should be the things i will have to look into while buying any of these bikes.
which will be the better offer? rx 100 or rx 135?

Xbhpians suggest me more on this.

@ mods we can change the topic to something else since the topic is diverted, say "planning to buy second hand bike"

Its an old horse of the indian biking, we indians do love old horses so its considered better than the rx 135,
just go to page 2 post no 20 and check my post

My bet would be RX 135 5speed, you can get 5 speed at 23 to 26k max

i agree its a old horse but i am sure its not just for that reason its considered better than RX 135....
I am not saying this but people and riders normally say rx 100 anyday than 135... that sounds good but again i ask why?
never have i got the answer....

                            now again?
                            why rx 100 than a rx 135?

if i were you i would consider the TB any given time
                              initial cost aside
it offers the best of both worlds good torque somewhat similar to a bullet, and a economy of the 150 class + the big bike feel

get any RX, newer & cheaper the better and get it reworked. you can get it converted to a 5 speed if it isn't. i don't recommend the 100:

                                1) older bike. even the cycle parts are going to be old and i don't buy the original jap stuff argument considering the age of the bikes (20 yrs - do you think much jap stuff will be remaining on these bikes if at all?)

                                2) the price for these bikes are a bit higher than they should be. why shouldn't they be that high? refer to point 1.
