Barry Sheene Biopic trailer has been released on Youtube. The life story of two-time 500cc world champion is being turned into a feature-length biopic called ‘Sheene’, which will be released in cinemas and is set to begin filming by the end of the year.
Barry Sheene is one of the greatest riders of grand prix racing. The two-time World Champion comes from the era when motorcycle racers were as unapologetic as the machines they rode.
Motorcycle legend Sheene scored his 23rd and final Grand Prix win in 1981, bowing out of the sport in 1984, after which he forged a new career as a TV commentator and property developer in Australia.
Sheene died of cancer at the age of 52 in 2003, but is still credited with helping to bring motorcycle racing to a more mainstream audience, as well as kick starting safety improvements in the sport.
Sheene famously survived two massive accidents at Daytona and Silverstone is being brought to life in a screenplay, called Sheene, and will tell the tale of his rags-to-riches journey which saw him become firm friends with James Hunt and appear alongside Henry Cooper in Brut adverts, splashing it on all over.
The project is a joint venture between IO Film in Australia and Deep Spring Pictures in the UK and will be based on the book Barry: The Story of a Motorcycling Legend, written by Steve Parrish and Nick Harris.
