Top Gear unveils a team of seven presenters for its popular TV show. The show is scheduled for a comeback in May this year.
Top Gear recruits the new team that will cover the entire automotive spectrum and bring with them their own unique and very individual love of automobiles that will resonate with every type of Top Gear viewer, from the family who enjoy the entertainment values of the show to fanatical petrolheads.
The new team includes Formula 1 commentator Eddie Jordan, World record – breaking German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, motoring journalist and YouTuber Chris Harris, car reviewer and TV presenter Rory Reid along with Former Friends star and motorcycle fan Matt LeBlanc, Chris Evans and off-course the Stig.
Eddie Jordan, the Formula 1 commentator comes armed with a trademark no-nonsense, richly experienced view of the motoring world, and life in general, which is guaranteed to be anything but boring. He has been driving the cars all his life, and as owner of the former Jordan Grand Prix team gave many of the world’s most iconic drivers their first taste of the most powerful and loudest starting grid on the planet, including Michael Schumacher, who made his debut for Jordan in 1991, and Eddie Irvine.
Sabine Schmitz will be the first female presenter in 15 years. He appeared in Top Gear season 5 and season 11. Regular viewers of the show must remember her for famously setting a scorching lap time around the Nurburgring in a Transit van. She has already completed some filming with Chris Evans.
Matt LeBlanc has been a motorcycling fan all his life. The former FRIENDS star is the new addition to the reformatted Top Gear TV Show.
However it’s not known how much motorcycling he will bring to the show, but we can hope his motorcycle love to be proudly displayed.
We still remember Richard Hammond riding the Vincent Black shadow in the series 13 “Race to the North”. We are hoping for some similar content from Matt LeBlanc, considering him as a two-wheeler enthusiast.
Chris Harris, Motoring Journalist and Youtuber said,
“Top Gear is the thing that helped shape my life with cars, my perception of cars and my obsession with cars, and I’m raring to give it a go. I’m also quite gobby and happy to get into trouble. And if it all goes wrong, well, I can say I was once on Top Gear, and just head back to being that annoying small bloke off YouTube.”
Rory Reid, the TV presenter was recruited to show via a public audition that was made in 2015 for the new presenter.
He said: “To be the only person to make it through the open audition process makes me immensely proud. I’ve been a Top Gear fan for decades, but more than that, I live and breathe cars in a way that is perfectly compatible with the show.”
