Suzuki is making its presence felt at EICMA 2024 in more than one way. In addition to showcasing some stellar vehicles, Suzuki is also the “Car of EICMA”. To celebrate this recognition, Suzuki, in addition to making a set of cars available to the Eicma organizer, will exhibit two exclusive vehicles, united by the same captivating black and yellow livery: the prototype of the GSX-8R CUP and the Suzuki Swift 8R.
The GSX-8R CUP, a racing version designed for the track of the GSX-8R from which it derives and was presented for the first time at the Suzuki Motor Fest in Misano in May 2024; will be exhibited during EICMA it will be possible to admire two examples exhibited in the heart of the fair, along Viale Italia and between pavilions 18 and 22.
Alongside the sports car, Suzuki will unveil the SWIFT 8R, an exclusive one-shot version of the famous and compact car in the Suzuki range, which recalls the colors and spirit of the GSX-8R. The Swift 8R will also be visible along Viale Italia, ready to enchant visitors.
GSX-8R CUP
The prototype of the GSX-8R CUP was born from the GSX-8R, Suzuki’s sports car that redefines the concepts of sportiness and riding pleasure. The 8R brings the “R” soul to the GSX series, recalling the legacy of the legendary GSX-R family, inaugurated in 1984 with the historic GSX-R 750.
The 8R CUP inherits the 776 cc forward-facing twin-cylinder engine from the standard version, capable of delivering 83 hp at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm.
The CUP model stands out for a series of specific components that enhance performance and safety on the track. These include the fiberglass fairings with safety tank, the fairing kit with tail support, mudguard and neoprene, as well as lowered handlebars, brake lever protection, adjustable footrests, and the rear chain guard fin. Other items included are rear stand mounts, rear rain light, tank cap, engine sump guard kit, monoshock linkage, exhaust bracket, steering stops and kill switch.
In addition, the model is equipped with a full Akrapovic exhaust, Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V3 SC1 tires, a braided brake hose kit and the custom sticker kit, all elements designed to maximize performance on the track.
GSX-8R is a contemporary icon in terms of style, driving dynamics and performance, designed to offer riding pleasure in any context: from the city, to winding mountain roads, to the track.
Suzuki Swift 8R
The Suzuki Swift 8R, in exclusive black and yellow livery, embodies the perfect combination of sportiness and avant-garde design, fast, snappy and tireless. The compact body is 3.86 m long and has a strong personality, thanks to the muscular fenders, the decisive line and the suspended roof.
The new 1.2-litre hybrid engine in the Swift Hybrid offers excellent performance thanks to a three-cylinder petrol engine that develops high torque from low revs, with a maximum output of 60.9 kW (82.8 hp). CO2 emissions are reduced to 99 g/km for the 2WD manual gearbox version. The hybrid system recovers kinetic energy during deceleration, improving performance and reducing fuel consumption, which ranges from 4.4 l/100 km (2WD) to 4.9 l/100 km (4WD). The electric unit delivers 2.3 kW of power and 60 Nm of torque.
