As much joy as motorcycles bring us, every once in a while, something happens that reminds us of our vulnerability as motorcyclists. Motorcycle accidents are sadly quite common, and in many cases, the reason is simply the ignorance of the people driving other vehicles.

Not too long ago, we lost another one of our biker brothers in a terrifying accident in Gurugram. He was out for a ride when a car being driven on the wrong side of the road hit him head-on. Unfortunately, Akshat lost his life on the spot.

xBhp has always been driven by the strength and unity of our community. We do our best to give back to this community and expand it to form one big family. So we felt our responsibility was to bring this harrowing incident to light and have it reach as many people as possible. We wanted to do this to raise awareness about such accidents. Our goal was to impart knowledge regarding safe riding practices and the importance of riding gear.

More than that, it was to make other people on the road aware of how easy it is for one to get severely injured or even killed on a motorcycle. Finally, we wanted the government to acknowledge this and come up with measures that mitigate such incidents and ensure swift justice in cases like these. As we had done earlier, we joined hands with Gurugram Cyber Police to organize a ride to raise awareness for not just our safety offline but online as well. We’d also like to thank Give Back to Gurugram and Mr Mayank from Geek Animals for their support in organizing this ride and event.

The ride started from the headquarters of Gurugram Cyber Police and concluded at DLF Cyber Hub. Once at the venue, we took the stage to raise awareness about safe riding. Post that, Mr Priyanshu Dewan, ACP, Gurugram Cyber Police, did his bit in making people aware of the dangers on the internet. From rampant fraud to the risk of sensitive information leaking online, he told us all about the risks and how we can protect ourselves and prevent any untoward incident online.

We were really happy with the turnout for the ride and it was a good feeling knowing that the motorcycling community in India is still as closely knit as ever. We hope that this showing makes people sensitive towards bikers on the road and the bikers themselves more cognizant of their safety. With that, we also hope that all of the people in attendance, those who watched from home, and those reading this are also better equipped to deal with online threats.

Ride Hard. Ride Safe. Both offline and online.
